2011 had a tough schedule but LSU had Brad Wing.

LSU beat Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2011 because LSU pinned them back on almost every possession. LSU's 2011 defense and special teams made the schedule look like a joke. LSU offense was good but not great. Jordan Jefferson helped move the ball with his feet more than with his arm.

I understand the reasoning behind 2018 predictions of 7-5, but the defense will probably be dominant so strong special teams units help will mostly likely mean no worse than 8-9 wins.

Looks like LSU has a good PK in Cole Tracy. No one ever mentions the punters..

How good are they supposed to be?

That 2011 redzone offense was great.

Like touchdowns on 72% of our trips into the RZ great

Growden has a strong leg and can boom kicks but is inconsistent. What about Rosenberg though. Is there a battle for the starting job or is it Growdens? Never hear anything about it.

I think we solved our FG problems with Tracy but a punter with the leg to flip field position for us would be a big plus

I’d assume it will be like last year with Von Rosenberg doing the regular punting and Growden the pooch punting.

He was 45th in the country in average at 43 yards a punt...I wouldn’t call that pretty below average...

Yeah but Wing did pouch punts too.

Wing was a boomer with accuracy. Probably one of the best punters I’ve ever seen at a college level.

You are correct, but Wing is arguably the most dominant punter I've ever seen play football.

Lol how far you can kick it is far less important than how you place it. How many did he drop within the 15? Probably could count it on one hand. Y’all are crazy to compare him to brad wing

I think with a full-time special teams coach, both Growden and Von Roseberg will be alot better. I think Zach did fine last year. Growden on the other hand wasn't the best. Should be improved this year though for both!

Growden pooch punts, von Rosenberg hits the boomers.

Honestly they are both about average or so. Von Rosenberg's average is inflated some because of Growden's role above. Growden obviously has a low average due to that. They aren't liabilities, but they certainly aren't "weapons" either in terms of guys like Wing were...but Wing was one of the best ever for us.

FWIW, Zach is the 3rd team Pre-season All SEC Punter this year at SEC Media Days

Growden has a special talent for fricking up the most important kicks. He pads his stats with great kicks when the team does not depend on them, but will shank one in the biggest moment of every game.

Hope he pulls it together because he certainly has the ability, but he drives me nuts.

I never said Zach was as good as Brad. Just that, that poster who called him god awful is an idiot.

It hard NOT to get the impression that Da Coach O neglects special teams. And we paid for it last year.
