It has nothing to do with weight. He and weeks are the same weight

The bama game is absolutely where his loss will hirt the most. Outside of singleton (whose a true freshmen who hasn’t rlly played ), he’s the one lb who had the speed to spy on Milroe

Perkins is a good athlete but his injury will not make a huge difference. Wes Weeks is a better LB.Period. Hurts us depth wise but now a youngster is going t have to step up. You may not see any difference atall. And to the people saying he's not being used properly, you have a low football IQ.

Well, at least now we can stop forcing a square peg into a round hole.

Platoon West Weeks and Deebo Atkins alongside Whit Weeks and see if either one can give you some consistent play.

A lot of guys still don’t recover fully from this injury. Most are never 100% afterwards. It doesn’t take very much loss of speed or quickness to prevent you from playing in the NFL. Just a tiny decline makes a huge difference.

I tried and tried and tried to believe in Perkins but he's just not a full time every down player on defense. It will hurt losing his pass rush ability but his production just isn't there to consider him a big loss. At some point we have to quit pointing the finger at the coaches and realize it's a Perk problem. Other players on the team made massive improvements and have become productive. He simply didn't. Maybe he will come back his senior year with a different mindset and have success. My guess with his camp they will go ahead and try to cash in NFL wise.

Doesn’t change anything Perkins barely contributed been a non-factor almost for two years now

Perhaps you should look at Perkins stats for his freshman and sophomore year and think about who else we could have played in coverage last year and this year for that matter?

I observed him being double teamed when he was in a pass rush position Saturday which just frees up others.

This is a big loss, but doesn't change my belief that the offense was always going to be the better unit this year

Hardly at all..... Reasons below:

MLB is not the right place to play him
He rarely hit any gaps, most of the time just went right at an OL and get stood up, or seemed to want to avoid contact from the MLB position
He missed a few tackles this year, just bounced off of some in the flat
Noticed the tackle he got hurt on, just hit with shoulder and did not wrap up
He looks slower than last 2 years where he always caught the guy he was chasing
He should be playing the Star position, and moving inside when needed to dive into the backfield for run blitz or rush the QB

Changes nothing. Until BK can prove he can beat ranked teams, this program is going to the Cheeto Bowl every year.

Regardless of the “lack of production”, it will hurt in the short run.

Teams knew the potential of Perkins and had to plan around him. Now, he is gone and it makes the offense coordinator job that much easier.

Very little.

It's not an insignificant loss like some are saying. But he also hasn't been the game changing player he was in 2022 since the Arkansas game that year. LSU is going to absolutely miss him in some situational aspects. Most notably on obvious passing downs. However, his play hasn't been the difference between LSU going 11-1 or 7-5. Of course, I never had any expectations of this being a playoff team BEFORE the season. There were just too many uncertainties and roster holes.

The defense is better than last season, but not "good" by any means. I thought they played a solid game vs. USC (the best offense they've faced) but since that time haven't gotten any better. Nichols should have been outclassed simply on talent alone, and South Carolina and UCLA aren't very good offenses. Particularly South Carolina without Sellers at QB.

My outlook even if Perkins was healthy is 8-4 or 9-3 was probably the most realistic scenario. That hasn't changed.

Agree but Suggs has been playing a lot all year. McKinley helping in the middle vs run and pass would be a huge upgrade if he can play like he did on Saturday. Thats where we’re hurting most.
We are not hurting the most at DT. He will help the rotation, but where we really hurt is LB and safety. Both Weeks have to step it up big time. We need one of the freshman LBs to step up to the rotation as well. I want to see what Toviano can do at Star.

Well if that’s what you’re seeing I’m not going to tell you you’re wrong but I’d invite you to rewatch games and focus on the interior guys plus Penn. As far as Toviano, I agree I’d like to see him too but going off of history I think we’ll likely see a 3rd safety instead of another LB on most downs but that’s just me speculating.

It means more Burns

I don't consider that a good thing

I know they lost yesterday, but I would like the defensive coaches take a look at the Saints defense and what they do with their corner ,Alontae Taylor on certain blitz packages.

I believe he has like four sacks on the seats already.

That might be a good way to use Burns. Or at least disrupt the opposing teams timing patterns on throws.

Perkins didn’t come off the field. Not because that was best for the defense. But because promises were made and he’s, by far, the highest paid defensive player.
I hate it for Perkins, but this gives Baker the opportunity, at least, to have that 11th man, be it a pass rusher, pass defender or run stopper on the field depending on the situation that otherwise would be Perkins, who did none of the 3 all season this year or last.

LSU has a top 50 rush defense. Weeks allowed 60+ TD runs in back to back weeks. Sage gave up on the Sellers 75 yarder. That is why the rush defense is not top 10. Not the DL. Penn has had some problems though.
