Obviously the guy has immense potential and showed it during ‘22. Last year, he was just bad. Slow, and couldn’t contain at all. Do you try to slim him back down and use him at Jack more, or keep him at the same weight (or higher and push him to DT) and work all summer on agility? I think a true D-Line coach will help him regardless, just curious what direction they go with him

Have him lose 10 pounds and then teach him how to contain.

Not have him gain so much weight. He was way better in 2022. They put too much weight on him.

Dude has the worse eye discipline I can recall at DE

Got sucked inside repeatedly, getting out leveraged constantly.

It happened so often that you have to wonder if he even knew that containment was his responsibility. I'm not sure he played it correctly once all year.

Leave the middle DL for the naturally big baws and leave Jones on the outside at +/- 260 lbs.

Ahh, so he was good, then he got bad because he was slow. And now you are asking how we can make him better again - presumably by speeding him up again and teaching him what he used to know but forgot, that is, how to contain. If this sounds stupid it’s because it is.

Savion Jones isn’t broken. He’s fine. He played well this year, as did several other people you think are dogshit.

Teach him how to set the edge in the run game and lose the weight put on him so he gets that first step back.

Make him add 20lbs. And slide him inside. I like Savion but he’s average at best on the edge. If he slides inside then he’s more athletic for interior lineman and may cause mismatches. This also allows for Womack to get more reps on the strong side edge.
