. The refs are not purposefully calling penalties in favor of Bama.

There's no question. They will protect what the SEC perceives as their best chance to have a championship team, Alabama. If LSU is seen as a threat to win, the questionable calls will go against us. They will call some meaningless penalties on Bama to try to hide it. We've seen it for years.

Depends on who it is. It's Tuscaloosa, and despite all of the jokes made about Tom Ritter, Steve Shaw, and the REC/SEC Office, if Hubert Owens and his worthless crew shows up, we got a problem.

They will handle the game not by what they call but by what they don’t.

Isn’t Bama the most penalized SEC team this year?

be careful, that doesn’t fit the narrative.

ETA: Bama is tied with Mizzou for second-to-worst in the SEC in penalties per game. Auburn is the worst.

Unlike you, I actually attended and have 2 masters from LSU so your hypothesis just went out the window.

If you watched Florida - Georgia, then the SEC must have been pulling for Georgia. I had no dog in the hunt, but their were some calls made and not overturned that made you wonder.

that was the Les Miles approach - and it's hard to do against their 5* talent.

We need to bring more than that.

They’re going to handle it as professionally and evenly as they can, which is what they always have done in recent years. They are human, so they will make mistakes. They will miss calls and make phantom calls against both teams. The low self-esteem losing fans (LSELF) will think there was a referee conspiracy, especially if the losing team is a perennial loser. The fans of the winning team will soon forget the bad calls. The LSELFs will remember the bad calls for decades.

We’ve discussed this ad nauseum on this board. It’s not necessarily the number of penalties they call, it’s when they call them. Bama can get called for ticky tack penalties all day long, but their opponents are the ones that get flagged for drive-killing penalties or penalties that extend Bama drives. The Bama/Tennessee game was textbook REC.

I hope Woodward has been working the conference office to make sure we are watching and will not sit still for the Bama bias that is indicative of their games.
