I thought we extended him a little while ago.. how do we lose Denbrock to ND for a lateral move, out of all teams? Assuming he’s originally from the area?

Yes. He's going to spend the last few years of his coaching life coaching where he's from. It sucks, but hard to blame the guy.

There are non-football reasons he's going to ND. He's probably getting a good raise and he's from that part of the country and he's close to retirement and likely wants to be closer to family.

Not rocket science.

He's spent almost all of his career up north and he wants to go back

Here's his coaching stops, he's avoided the south like the plague

They had a verbal agreement to give him an extension and raise BUT it was not approved by the BOS and would not be until Feb.

Because ND is moving in one direction with Freeman and we are moving in the other with Kelly. Look at our staff and our recruiting. I'd bet my balls we will be ranked lower than them on average over the next 3 years.

No big loss

The majority of this board wanted him gone after last year

This has nothing to do with why he left.

As others have said, he left to get closer to home as he finishes out his career.

Makes sense if he’s from the area. Just shocked to see that. Thought he was in for a few more years.

Maybe because ND had a decent defensive coordinator.

He wanted to go somewhere else.

People melted about hiring him and now melting about him leaving.

Irony is he was our second choice because (If I remember correctly) we wanted to hire the then Notre Dame OC. Now, Notre Dame hires him from us.

Can't blame a guy for wanting to live closer to he had a history.

I don't see us having a problem with this position.

they probably already signed an offer sheet. The BOD was just a rubber stamp approval and would have gone through.

This didn’t happen because the boards wasn’t going to sign his extension.

I wish him well. I don't blame a man for wanting to live his dream. If he is more comfortable at Notre Dame, go for it.

We have a future Dylan Mulvaney on our hands here. Congrats on losing your balls next year.

At the end of the day, we never thought we’d see an offense like 2019 again and we made happen this season with a different OC.

Has more to do with having a heisman winning QB with an NFL O line and receivers than it does having a Ensminger/Brady/Denbrock
