Not speaking Orgeron for sure. Last I heard he was the interim HC at Maryland. I admittedly don't follow him. My daughter is at grad school at Maryland and he was their coach last year.

I know for a fact we had two touchdowns underthrown. Chark had the DB beat by three steps and Etling underthrew it.
Was that the year Jalen Hurts scrambled for a TD when they had three or four missed holding calls? Yeah I was pissed that entire game

That was Ed's interim season, before Canada.

Excitement soon turned to disappointment followed by disgust.

He’s literally never been a coordinator in any capacity. He was an “offensive assistant” with the Saints and a GA before that. The title “passing game coordinator” just sounds catchy and exciting l to the fanbase, so mission accomplished.
Every post you make from now on should just state that you hate coach O as it would save you a lot of typing. JESUS!

I liked the hire, congratulated the coach on it, but took a wait-and-see outlook.

The majority of others went much much further with it, as is usually the case.

My excitement about the season comes more from the fact that there should be better chemistry in the passing game due to burrow and the receivers having more time together.

And hopefully either Emery or Davis emerges by mid season

Whatever, why not wait till you have something to cry about before you actually do.

I'm pretty sure I got berated by Tiger Ree for questioning how good Canada and his scheme would actually be.

Pretty ironic now.

They installed Canada as HC after that player died of heat exhaustion at U.Md.

Well he definitely is, at least in the sense that he’s never been a coordinator, called plays, or even been an actual coach on a coaching staff

“The QB that was drafted to the NFL? “
You mean The QB that Canada wanted to start Brennan ahead of and Eaux interfered??

Sure. Still wasn't below average.

ETA: And if he is, what does that make Burrow? Burrow had a worse TD:INT ratio, threw for less yards per attempt, and had a lower overall rating.

I thought his offense was hokey. But he did have a track record of scoring points. I think "cautiously optimistic" described my feelings about it at the time.

I was excited. If you look back at what we knew at the time, it made sense. What we didn't know was that he couldn't adapt his scheme to our personnel, he was insistent on trying to make freshmen linemen learn more stuff than they could handle (which didn't work), and he would be insubordinate.

There are times when you make the best decision that you can with the information that you have, and it doesn't work out. Curley Hallman was producing winning seasons at Southern Miss when we hired him, and we didn't know that he was a terrible coach who had managed to win there because he had Brett Favre. Trent Johnson looked like a fantastic basketball coach in his previous jobs who turned out to be terrible at LSU. Sometimes, stuff just doesn't work out the way it should.

I took my usual wait-and-see attitude.

I did like the idea of trying to confuse defenses.

But it turned out to be (mostly) smoke & mirrors.

Opposing DCs (good ones) learned pretty quickly what they could safely ignore.

Canada’s offense may have worked OK in a league where elite defenses (and DCs) were rare.

But against SEC-level coaching and talent -- not so much.

And it quickly became evident that Canada was a prima donna, and a divisive influence.

I give credit to CEO for early recognition (and correction) of his error (although lots of folks will contend that hiring CSE was not a correction).

Did the Bama game just not happen? And if he was so hell bent on getting our young lineman doing things, why were they so terrible this past year most games?
