What I don't understand is that it seems there is no actual coaching of skills during the season. For example, the catching was pretty bad. No ability to block balls. Lazy, sitting on knees with runners on base. That would be easy to coach. Don't sit on your arse or knee with runners on. Why can't we make simple corrections. Another example is that pitching seemed to get worse. Can we not coach pitching?
It seems like he's just managing the players at their current skill level and there is no possibility of making anyone better.

This is the biggest cop out of all

It’s not a cop out. We may look at it differently which is fine but to me everything goes back to talent evaluation and portal misses. Jay owned it and stated he won’t make the same mistake again and I trust that. Now that doesn’t mean this season is acceptable.

Hard to win when you have a poor defense, terrible command from the pitching staff, and unclutch hitting. If one of those was better namely defense or clutch hitting then this team is likely middle of the pack instead of damn near the worse team in LSU modern baseball history.

But again I trust Jay when he says he won’t make the same mistake again when constructing the roster.

I started to notice this trend with CBK as soon as expectations weren’t met

Jay has always been an offensive-minded coach-he totally relies on his pitching coach for the pitching

Question is-did he make the right hire with Yeskie?

Wrong question. Yeskie's record is very good. He knows how to coach. None of us are happy with this season, but that doesn't mean we should give up on the guys that have brought a lot of success here. They will right the ship.

Should not have been a MOUNTAIN, though. And then how did the fielding and oftentimes the hitting collapse?

Really glad you still think Jay’s still a good coach. I mean, he’s only won two titles the last three years. Let me know what other coaches have done that recently!

Jay has admitted to making some mistakes with letting some players go and portal additions. We should see a different approach to the portal next time. Some of our fans are way too spoiled or delusional!

All year long I have seen questionable decisions on pulling pitchers, pinch hittting, bunting, etc based on (in his own words) the analytics.

You forget the worst, those cotdamned “defensive shifts”.

If we were to believe tRant, Jay Johnson isn’t a good coach despite having won 2 CWS championships in 3 years.

frick you tards can be spoiled little bitches sometimes. It’s an off year. 0 portal guys panned out. In this day and age of collegiate athletics, that’s going to happen. You’re literally building a new roster every season.

There is no mystery science here. If Jay had 2 studs and a small group of good mid/closer guys, LSU would be hosting again. End of story.

In fact, no team, not even the LA Dodgers can make the post season with the stats we have given up on the bump this year.
