We were scheming the defense around him. No denying he’s extremely talented but he Was limiting what we could do on defense.

We may get better but it will be because the players are more comfortable in Baker's system and because Baker has a better feel for his players. It definitely won't be because we lost the most physically talented player on the team.

idk we’ll see

he was absolutely physical freakish, but he was also essentially position less and he also didn’t seem to interested in tackling

what’s being under appreciated is how much attention he got when he blitzed.

we’ve had a few successful sacks because they missed a different player blitzing because they were concerned about picking up Perkins.

There’s no way this defense is better without Perkins. Just because he wasn’t filling up the stat line doesn’t mean he wasn’t producing. I don’t think people understand how much attention he was getting leading to others being able to make plays bc of all the focus on him.

If LSU can find a physical LB that can shed blocks and provide run support, this loss could be minimized.

Perkins has 10 Tackles and 0 sacks and 1 TFL in 4 games in 2024.

He is physically gifted; and maybe a high draft pick, but it hasn’t clicked this year. (Or last really)

That 2024 production isn’t insurmountable to replace. Next man up.

I don’t wish injury on any player, and I am not happy that Perkins is injured.

but he has having a disappointing season.

He’s hurt not dead. we can talk about it.

While I have severe questions to how well he knew his position, this team is definitely lesser for not having Perkins.

I get what you're saying, but I'm not sure it applies.

You're suggesting that other players were benefitting from the extra attention Perkins received, and that he was a successful decoy (because he wasn't really successful in any meaningful, stats way).

I think there's a chance that the defense can be better, because Baker is now free to put people where they'll be most effective, including not having someone out there when not performing.

I’m always nervous when he makes a great play because a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct could follow, same as Lacy.

He always only had one blocker to deal with and he couldn't get off a block. I don't think he was schemed away from but was baited constantly, which he took most of the time.

I’m kidding.

But I dont think Blake baker was scheming a d around Perkins.

His future role was on certain downs.

Baker knows the defense revolves around more than one guy.

Just like how the offense should not have only one guy who can stretch the field….and he’s still injured.

Half of me agrees, the other half makes me believe the other teams were also game planning for him and now that frees up their double team or “hat on hat” good players
