Aranda "slipping up" results in a top 25 scoring defense and top 15 in both efficiency and S&P+.

Are you really this blind to understand that we fielded one of the worst offenses in the past decade this year so the defense obviously suffered because of it? Also if you deflate the numbers from the 7OT game the defense was #12 in opponent ppg.

Look we can debate who is to blame for the ATM game all we want, but it's quite apparent that our defense (for the rest of the season) did damn well considering the offense. I'm not saying Aranda called every play perfectly or that the defense was elite this year. I'm just saying that the defense is not regressing like you and others are trying to claim here. I would say, given the challenges on offense and the injuries on defense, fielding a defense with those numbers is doing quite well.

The difference when the defense stuggles is it's still a really good defense overall. When the offense "struggles" we're somewhere near dead last in almost every Offensive stat.

You serious? Bad fortune? Slip up a little?

On offense we fielded one of the statistically worst LSU teams over the past decade in almost every Offensive stat this year. If it makes no sense as to why people were upset than I don't think you will ever get it.

And bad fortune isn't why we got blanked by Bama at home 2x under E as OC. Sorry. When you have an offense with guys like Fournette, Guice, Chark, Dupre, and a solid o line and can't score a point then that's not bad fortune. That's bad coaching.

Nobody said Aranda was perfect but you swamp trash, gutter dwellers are acting like the defense was our biggest problem this year. It just shows your ignorance.

We all admit that Aranda is not perfect. No one is. But I dare you to poll fans of other teams and ask them what they would rather, be down by 6 and going up against our defense with 2 minutes left in the game or up by 6 going against our offense with 2 minutes left in the game.

I think There is an arguement to be made that Aranda needs an edge rusher in his defense and really just hasn’t had one since 2016.

Also we gave up more PPG in 2013 than we did this year even if you include the 7 OTs

The LSU D allowed 16 pts a game in 2016, 19 pts a game 2017, and 22 pts a game in 2018 after a 7 OT game.

Meanwhile, the LSU O ranked 10 in the SEC.

The LSU O did lead the SEC in one thing. Run attempts per game. I wonder what D’s were expecting when they played us.

It's not like Aranda is producing defenses that rival the '86 Bears. His defenses sometimes look great and sometimes look terrible. They sometimes win games and other times lose games.

What bothers me, and seems hypocritical, is that the bar used to measure Aranda's quality as a coach is not the same one used to measure Orgeron's quality as a coach (or vise versa).

It seems more times than not when someone is asked to defend Aranda their argument devolves into "Orgeron", "Ensminger" or 'the offense'. Nobody is arguing the offense is better than the defense, but the defense has issues and Aranda should have to answer the same critical questions as Orgeron and Ensminger.

Outside of ATM what critical issues did you see the defense have throughout the entire season?

1. Go look at when Florida scores. It wasn’t a walk off win for them. We went up by 5 with 11:14 in the 4th. That’s a lot more than 1 stop. In fact the offense had the ball 2 times with time, down by 1 and 8. So a chance to win and a chance to tie, and we threw 2 picks.

Sorry the defense couldn’t cold Florida to 13 the entire game.

2. The defense tied the game with a TD vs A&M And our ST fricked our defense giving them the ball back in the red zone. We also stopped A&M on 4th and 5 at our own 37, only for our offense to go 3 and out and give them the ball back.

So again, you’re “all we needed was 1 stop”
