Well, whatever the outcome of the game, you know we'll all be back here. Because, what else are we going to talk about until the second signing day, and then baseball season? lol...

And I'll be honest with you, I'm a bit of a rooster when it comes to competition. And all of the banter about UCF thinking they deserved to be in the playoffs the last two years just really makes me want the Tigers to pummel them.

No matter how this game finishes, Ed Orgeron should not be the HC at LSU

I disagree. He should get his 3 years just like every other coach should get. He does have the team ranked #11 in NY6 bowl. It's not my first choice, but I don't think he should be removed right now regardless of the outcome of this game.

Oh it is, the bananas on here will go ape if we lose. So, we have to have the W just so we do not have to hear all the crap and focus on the positive.

I don't think anyone can make a legitimate argument that this game doesn't matter at all. A loss and you're the laughing stock of the SEC like Auburn was last year. With a win the team goes into the offseason with excitement and confidence. A loss and that doesn't happen and could even potentially divide the team. Also, imagine if Chase or Marshall play the game of their young careers. That can help build chemistry with Burrow and help them gain that confidence for next year. That can be said for other young guys too. A win definitely puts the program in a better spot than a loss.

Of course it's all meaningless in the grand scheme of things if you want to be philosophical but in terms of college football and the LSU football team it is a very meaningful game. First and foremost we would finish the season in the top 10 for the first time since 2011 and also end the season with a major Bowl win and a 10-3 record. So far the program it's very meaningful but like you said in the grand scheme of things it means nothing as this life means nothing and everything is nothing and nothing is nothing yet simultaneously Everything is Everything in the infinite expanse of time and space

You are right that one individual game doesn't mean much but on the other hand when you add them all up it means a lot more whatever that's supposed to mean. So you could argue that football games aren't important or all that relevant and individual ones are even less relevant in the big picture. After all in our day of dying I doubt many of us will be pondering the 2018/19 Fiesta Bowl. But for right now as far as this college football season goes the game means a lot.

But again finishing with our best season since 2011 means a good bit to the people that concern themselves with LSU football.

I never said it didn't. We all want the team to win. I equate it to a week 17 game in the NFL when a team can't improve or worsen their playoff seed, they sit their starters. Do they want to win and play to win? Of course they do, but the outcome doesn't have any impact on wherr they're trying to get.

Also, a win increases expectations for next year.

If firing a coach is like filling a bucket, this game is huge for O..

Lose and that bucket takes on some water heading into 2019... win and by getting to 10 wins, he’s able to pour a little water out for the time being.

No single game determines a coach or program’s fate, but when that bucket gets full there’s no preventing a spill.

IMO this game shouldn't have any impact on his job status. It would take some thing extraordinary to make that happen. LSU would have to get blown out or a dumb coaching decision like kicking field goal from the 1 yard line when you have a chance to secure the win with a TD.

What are the ramifications of a loss and the benefits of a win for the program?
A win puts LSU in the Top Ten of the final polls. The Tigers have not finished ranked in the Top Ten since 2011.

And what do we get for that finish vs what we would get if we lost?

I understand where you’re coming from, but this is an important game for O and this program.

Are we “back” with a win? Of course not.

Are the “wheels falling off” with a loss? Of course not.

But college football is all about achieving. It’s all that matters when you look back. And this program and O need a 10-win season to carry forward into the future. It’s an interrmediary hump we need to get over in our attempts to Getting the program back to where it needs to be.

Getting to 10 wins is not meaningless for the Program Mr. MA. (Many Mr. MA's on here)

Of course, if Orgeron/McMahon didn't blindly stick Giles back there to return that punt against A&M, we'd already have 10 wins and be looking for 11.

I don't really understand what you are saying here, It gets LSU a top 10 finish in the polls. Are you saying that it doesn't get us the NC trophy or the SEC championship trophy, so there for it doesn't matter? Do they give trophys or prize money for bowls? What we get if we win is a top ten finish in the polls for the first time since 2011 and our highest ranking for a season since 2011, which would make it our best season since 2011.

But no we won't get the NC trophy for it if that is what you are asking. Do you view college football, or in sports in general, to be one winner and everyone else losers? All or nothing?

No, I'm asking what advantages or rewards will LSU get if they win the game? How will that bolster the program? How does that make LSU a better team going forward. Just being ranked in the top 10 isn't doing any of that.

Conversely, if LSU loses, what disadvantages does that bring? How would that hinder the progress of the program? What are the consequences?
