Playing in the SEC, Clemson would have at least 2 losses. It's easy to get your team prepared for ONE game a year!

You realize we beat UVA by 40+ right? Last year South Carolina had 500 yards passing against us and we ended up beating Bama 44-16. Y'all can look at ur stats all day long but y'all haven't faced a team like us.

The truth is LSU has already played teams this season with better defenses than Clemson and destroyed them. The same thing will happen again against Clemson. As Joe Burrow is unstoppable.

In fact, in the last three games of the season, Clemson's defense gave up an average 359 yards a game in total offense. While LSU's defense gave up an average of 259 yards a game in total offense.

Clemson’s last three opponents were South Carolina, Virginia, and Ohio State. LSU’s final three opponents were Texas A&M, Georgia, and Oklahoma.

In my opinion, LSU played the harder schedule in those three games relative to the schedule Clemson played in those final three games as well.

Not to mention that overall Clemson's offense, in my opinion, is very overstated as well simply due to the piss poor quality of teams Clemson played in the weak ACC.

While LSU, on the other hand, which so far this season has already played and beaten six teams that were ranked in the AP Top Ten, with three of those teams ranked in the Top Five at the time the games were played, is the legit number one best offense in the country bar none.

Hence, in my opinion, LSU's offense is far better than Clemson's offense simply due to the huge disparity in the quality of the competition Clemson played relative to the quality of the competition LSU played.

Now comparing our two games to our only common opponent, which is Texas A&M. Clemson beat A&M 24 to 10 and held them to 289 yards of total offense while gaining 389 yards of total offense on A&M.

While, LSU, on the other hand, beat A&M 50 to 7 and held them to just 169 yards of total offense while gaining 553 yards of total offense on A&M.

Hence, if LSU loses this game to Clemson, it won't be because Clemson is the better of the two football teams. It will be because LSU simply self-destructed like Ohio State and in which I don't foresee happening. As I’m betting that LSU will win this National Championship title game against Clemson relatively easy.

The 4 teams that passed over their average barely went over and the ones they held under were WAY under.

Anyway screw yards points scored is what matters

I feel scoring defense is most important but let me address the passing Defense first . Since you guys think our conference is garbage and it pretty much is lets compare our defensive performance against Texas A&M and South Carolina to the Sec defensive performance vs them .

South Carolina: pretty easy we gave up less passing yards to them than everyone of the 9 teams they played in the SEC . This includes UF, Bamer, and UGA .

Texas A&M : We gave up less passing yards to them than
Uga, Bamer, and Auburn a (note you guys only gave up 92 unreal but this is not about your defense.)

Scoring defense : We gave up less points to South Carolina then everyone they played in the SEC . We gave up less points to Texas A&M then everyone they played in the Sec except the Bayou Bengals.

As far as the narrative on the original post that of course we are going to give up less yards because teams have not thrown against us we are also first in passing effeciency defense which takes that into account . I can promise ya Venables has stuff he has not shown yet .

On the down side your offense is the best in the country by a long shot .

No bud it’s very safe to say that we have played teams just as talented and more so in some cases every week. So I’d say it more like you haven’t faced a team like this LSU squad who’s about to send poor Clemson to the grave. We’re going to burry your team.

The best team you faced during the regular season was A&M who went blow for blow with you guys and ended 24-10. We blew them out by halftime like many schools. 50-7 was the final score. LSU has beaten Alabama away, Auburn at home, Florida at home, and Texas away. Then blew past the best defense in the country 37-10 which was like an away game.

The best team you faced during the regular season was our 6th or 7th best team we faced. You guys have a legit offense but your defense hasn’t been tested yet. Even Ohio State doesn’t have the weapons that LSU does at WR or TE. Our RBs are about the same and our QB is much more polished and mature than anything you’ve faced yet, not close really.

Our defense will be the fastest but also some of the biggest you’ve faced all year as well. This will be a tough match up for both defenses but I simply like our overall team to get the job done. We’ll see who’s who soon.

But we didn't play that juggernaut UVA or that perennial contender NC.

Clemson played #23 Virginia to win the ACC. Prior to that, the only ranked team(at the time) they played was TAM...and they won by 14. Time to remind them ACC is basketball not football.

This is a direct compairison of Clemson defensive numbers to The Sec's defensive numbers against the same opponent . If you want to say that doesn't matter your gonna smoke us anyways fine but the schedule does not matter here.

Except the two decent teams with any real talent on their schedule.

Scoring is what matters so why not look at what CU did against teams scoring average of D1 teams.

GT -2
TAMU -19.5
Cuse -22
Char -19.8
UNC -13
FSU -13
L'Ville -23
BC -23.9
WF -28
NCST -12
SC -19
UVA -15
OSU -23.9

Avg -18

I am not going to talk about how many scores happened when our second and third teams played the second half of games, just straight math.

So if that average holds true then LSU is going to score 31 points.

Now lets look at LSU

Ga South -25
Tex +3
Vandy +15.5
UtST -23
UF -5
MSST -14
AUB -14
UA -7
Miss +10.5
Arky -1
TAMU -22.5
UGA -21
OU -16

Avg -9

So CU should score 36 or so.

Hardly adds up to the boatrace so many on here are predicting.

Which is easy to do when you are the best team that opponent has played.

I dropped in on the Clemson boards earlier, and they were crowing about how their defense is better than any defense LSU has seen because of how their "stats" look, and my thought was exactly the point the OP had made. It's not hard for your defensive stats to look good when you haven't played anyone with an offense. Sorry but we've faced at least 4 defenses as good or better than Clemson's. I also saw someone trying to make the point that Auburn losing their bowl game "Exposed" the SEC as being over rated. Never mind that the SEC is currently 5 and 2 in bowl games, and by the looks of it will be 6 and 2 by the end of the Sugar Bowl while the ACC is currently 3-5 in bowl games.

If the Clemson fans want to talk it up about opponents and what Clemson did against UVA, this is for you.
Lets take a look at the only common opponent.

Clemson - 24
Texas A&M - 10

LSU - 50
Texas A&M - 7
