Um,.... As a visiting fan, I read this thread and wonder if anyone on it has ever opened any threads on Tiger Rant.

With out a doubt, this forum has the most homer trash talkers of any team we have played in the CFP over the last 5 years. I mean it is not even close......

This is best defensive unit ever on paper and considering who we played this year they probably the best ever. When we look back at the talent this team had on defense it will be unmatched.

So why have they under-performed for most of the year? That kind of talent and they can't even finish in the top 25 defenses? Sounds like bad coaching.......

No doubt we did not get the pressure on the QB this year compared to last year. Not even close.

Again, BV knows how to get the most out of the personnel he has and plays to their strengths. We did end up second in the country in turnovers forced. He knew we would not get home as often so he went with pressure forcing quick reads into coverages that constantly changed.

Probably wont work with the second coming that is JB, but he will try.
quote:

For those keeping track at home, that's 200 yards on 34 attempts

Last time I checked, yardage gained and points scored in the first half still count.

For those of you at home they scored 2 TDs on 200 yards rushing and 300+ yards passing. Last time I checked the final score is calculated off of points scored not yards gained.

Don't really get the respect card thing as a CU fan. Much more interested in evaluating actual results and that is what this thread started on.

Did you really watch the game again? Because if you did, you saw BV at his best. We got gashed on two big runs that combined for over 130 yards. He completely changes the formations we were running and they got 70 yards after that on 32 carries.

Tony Elliot the OC, saw the coverage we were getting and changed from long vertical passes to short intermediates with TL being the primary ball carrier.

The actual results were we spotted them 16 and then outscored them 29-7. Now the knee jerk reaction to 99% of you is going to be about refs, or bad play calling on OSU, etc. The real results is CU changed game-plans midway through the 2nd quarter and won the game.

I would bet a ton. The only ones pissed off would be SEC East teams. None of them want anything to do with CU.

LSU is not Virginia S.Carolina or Bama.

Hey Pot, meet kettle....
Scoring is what matters so why not look at what CU did against teams scoring average of D1 teams.

GT -2
TAMU -19.5
Cuse -22
Char -19.8
UNC -13
FSU -13
L'Ville -23
BC -23.9
WF -28
NCST -12
SC -19
UVA -15
OSU -23.9

Avg -18

I am not going to talk about how many scores happened when our second and third teams played the second half of games, just straight math.

So if that average holds true then LSU is going to score 31 points.

Now lets look at LSU

Ga South -25
Tex +3
Vandy +15.5
UtST -23
UF -5
MSST -14
AUB -14
UA -7
Miss +10.5
Arky -1
TAMU -22.5
UGA -21
OU -16

Avg -9

So CU should score 36 or so.

Hardly adds up to the boatrace so many on here are predicting.

Venables is the second highest paid DC based upon production. His defenses have been in the top 10 for the last 9 years.

He lost 6 players to the NFL from last years team and yet his defense is again in the top 2 in scoring, pass D, etc. He totally transformed how his defense played.

If you want to go with CU doesn't play anyone, in the last 5 CFP semi final games his teams have given up an average of 13.4 pts a game

To put him in the same conversation as Steele or Lanning is uninformed at best.
Go back and look at last years CFP. UA had tons of yards between the 20s, especially in the first half. Tua threw more picks than TDs.

Same thing happened to OSU. Tons of yards in the first half between the 20's. Fields threw twice as many INTs in the game than he did the entire season.

Live these next two weeks to the fullest LSU fans. You beat Bama once in the last decade by 5 points and yet you feel good about talkin' shite. This is old hat for us. Enjoy, enjoy the next two weeks
No more delusional fanbase than LSU. Not even close

You think you gonna walk all over these teams in the sec like you did bama one time lol! Keep living in the past the truth is this is the best offense you are going to face and probably the best defense you will have faced all year long so shut you mouth and wait for the game. No one all year has stopped our offense and you think Clemson will? Your a joke ! Gtfoh!

Another example of fans living and believing the SEC hype. LSU played two good teams this year beating one by 5 and the other by 3. One had a good offense, the other had a good defense. UF - one dimensional offense that just beat UVA by 8(CU beat them by 45). UGA - good defense with a one dimensional offense that had it's best player hurt. Texas - overrated as usual.

LSU has not faced anyone like CU, but keep living in the fantasy. You have a little less than two weeks to enjoy it.

dang you guys are a sensitive bunch.

OK, you gave up an average of 35 pts to Tex, Vandy, Flo, and Ol Miss, none of whom strike fear into people when you are talking tough teams this year on offense.

Heck you gave up 20 to Arky which is 110th in scoring offense.

So, now go read my original post and reply

Lets talk LSU's defense

CU fan here. There are a lot of threads on the board about the LSU offense.

What are the strengths of the LSU defense? I know you have a couple of fantastic DBs, and that edge rusher was reeking havoc on OU Saturday. But what is the overall feel from the board?

What changed from earlier in the season when teams ran pretty effectively on your team?
CU fan here. I think Ross last year in the CFP was a #1 pick, but he has had a severe soph slump IMO. The guy is not half the receiver this year. He has been banged up a lot this year and may have something to do with it, but this years Ross is not one of the top receivers in the country.
I would submit that it is more likely that two undefeated teams with two of the top defenses in the country had impacts on each other's offenses, rather than the assertion that they both just suck and each got lucky 13 times this season.

New here obviously, and trying to get a feel for the opponents board. Seems like a ton of hyperbole for the home team and little objectivity for the opponent.

LSU is #1 in red zone offense and has played three teams ranked better than Clemson in red zone defense including Florida who is #1 in that category.

I actually think OSU was #1 before last night. Do not be surprised if the first half does not go the same for LSU with lots of yards between the 20s and field goals rather than TDs.

Yes, Burrow is great, and yes your WRs are great. But we have seen this script twice now with Venables as DC. Last years UA team was the greatest ever, but did squat after halftime. This years OSU team lead the country in scoring but got outscored 29-7.

Good luck, but I think everyone on this board is going to be shocked when LSU does not score at will.
OP, do you really believe what you typed or are you simply playing to the home crowd?
