Honestly I’d rather 3 star players they go 110% every snap to prove their pro potential rather than the blue chip 5 stars who are first round locks out of highschool

What you just described is Kentucky. Is that really what you want here?

questioning whether it was worth while for his son to play considering the fan reaction to the way Jr played

I thought college football players play for the team and to try to make it to the NFL.... not for the fans.

Frankly, I want guys that are willing to put their head down and tackle and Jr was not doing that against UCLA

He literally put his head down and made a nice open field tackle early in the UCLA game. The missed tackle later was bad, but y’all swear he was out there whiffing all game long.

If he wanted to opt out he would have not played fricking McNeese

Or actually played hard and made plays that energized the D vs CMU. He may be opting out now, or he may be legitimately injured, but those two games don’t line up with the worst-case narrative that many are pushing around here.

What? He was laying the wood at the line of scrimmage vs CMU.

Anthony plays with passion and comes across like a guy that loves LSU.

DS comes across like he really couldn’t care less about the place and can’t wait to leave.

You’re basing this on what exactly?

The reality is that Andre Anthony is a 6th year senior who fans had forgotten about, that turned into a feel good story because he stuck it out and improved until he finally got his chance, then capitalized on it and became a great player. While Stingley was a great player from day one, but fans have had high expectations of him since the moment he arrived on campus.

So people feel bad about Anthony’s injury because he was exceeding their expectations, but people are angry about Stingley’s injury because he hasn’t met their expectations.

Stingley’s dad certainly hasn’t helped matters with his comments, but it’s not that hard to imagine how a father can get defensive about his kid. That doesn’t excuse Stingley Sr., but it’s not like Stingley Jr. is the one that made the comments.

I don’t know, just seems like our fans are being especially toxic about Stingley and I’m not sure what the kid has done to deserve it, other than fight injuries and miss a couple of tackles.

Yes…and that’s exactly what I just said with slightly different wording.

NFL does NOT like injury prone players. He will be late 1st round pick, and most likely will get injured first five weeks in his first season. Will
Never recover. Might make $2-$5 million then be unemployed due to unreliability after year 3.

He will be a bust in the nfl. He cannot stay healthy. There is something seriously wrong with him.

He was healthy enough to be a 2 time All-American in 2 years...while missing 3 games.

Something tells me I'd rather his salary next vs the rest of my life.

I told you why: He has never outwardly embraced LSU and the fans in the way other players have. And in fact he has a parent who publicly complains about the fans at seemingly every turn. And you wonder why he’s not loved?

LSU fans lionize guys like Peterson and White, neither of whom were on championship teams and who both left early by the way, because they played the game the way we like to think we would if we could play for LSU, with passion and intensity. And they did so while very clearly wanting to be at LSU.

I’m not saying it’s fair. I’m just saying that’s why.

He doesn’t outwardly embrace LSU? The kid has DBU tatted on his body and is the first guy sprinting to hype up the student section in pre game. He’s just a more quiet guy by nature and isn’t the demonstrative stare you down and pound his chest type of guy.

The problem with some of you people ( yes , you people) is that you want players to have personalities they don't have and then you create a false narrative that they don't care or they are not leaders as though they are mandated to be by virtue of their great ability. We have seen this with Ben Simmons and Warford in basketball and Stingley and others in football. Some players re just quietly efficient and let their play do the talking. They are not natural leaders.

Its also interesting how often its mentioned that Devonta Smith burned Stingley twice in 2019. Once was likely not his fault, but even if it was the same fans who linize Devin White never notice when he misses a tackle or is out of position in pass defense and gets beat because they have such sycophantic " love " for him.
