I'm amazed at the number of people in here who seem to think that he would fake an injury and have surgery in order to quit playing football at LSU.
Unfortunately, I'm not surprised at the Rant's stupidity anymore.

No dipshit. Your lack of reading comprehension indicates the value of a public school education.
Perhaps let's try this again. You said....

the real realization is what does O promise that allows so many football players hold the university hostage and feel like they are in control.
What exactly is Stingley doing to "hold the university hostage"? Or any football player for that matter?
And in this situation, where a player is purportedly choosing to undergo surgery for an injury and not return to play for the season, what do you suggest Orgeron do to avoid that decision?

Add him to the list of highly ranked recruits that didn’t finish out their playing career at LSU under O. Time to quit talking about class rankings and star gazing if they quit on Ed (and I count the ones that couldn’t stay off the compliance department radar in that). With Miles, we knew that the highly ranked recruits wouldn’t make it past their Junior year, he used that as part of his pitch. With Ed, some of them never really get off the bus.

Orgeron has completely failed at the retention and development aspect of running a top program. Who cares to argue otherwise?

List? And how specifically each of those was O’s fault. He doesn’t control the drug policy nor Gilbert going off the reservation.

He may be legitimately injured. It may legitimately be a season-ending injury.
But given the recent history of LSU players opting-out, it should come as no surprise that some fans question this situation. Especially given the outspoken father’s recent comments.

This does give one pause. Does it not?

Gotta love all of the “guess he didn’t want to finish the year” takes. In order to believe that this (if accurate) is anything other than a medical decision, you must believe either:
A. that Stingley, the other players, and the staff are all willing to straight up lie about him undergoing surgery, or
B. that Stingley wants so badly to sit out, that he would choose to undergo an unnecessary surgery.
I get it, his dad made some inflammatory remarks after Stingley whiffed on a few tackles. But come on. Do people really think that surgery, of all things, is just a pretense to prepare for the draft?
Now - maybe there’s an argument to be made around whether surgery is really necessary, or if he’s being overly conservative because he’s worried about a re-injury that could cost him in the draft. But at that point you’re splitting hairs. Choosing surgery after an injury is not at all the same thing as, say, Chase or Marshall just deciding not to play anymore. And that’s assuming it is, in fact, optional.

Ho hum…
Look I get it and don’t blame him at all….but this is where we’re at with college football now and it kind of sucks.

Merely my opinion, but this is exactly what I believe is going on.

Well, you may very much have a valid point, you can certainly argue that Stingley doesn't fit into this category.

Such bullshite. Some agent calls his dad and finds a loophole and gets him some money for the future that guarantees Stingley signs with him at the end of the season. Then a jerk off like Kiper or Detillier goes around raves about him hoping that some GM doesn't realize that Stingley has not really done shite since January of 2020

LSU has played 29 games since he's been on the team. He's played in 25 of them
Stingley came in as a highly touted true freshman. He started/played all 15 games of his Freshman season.
It was reported he had a medical emergency just before the MSU game to start 2020. He missed the game. He then started the next two games vs. Vandy and Mizzou. He hurt his ankle vs. Mizzou. Nevertheless, he played the next 5 games.
He did not play the final two after LSU was hammered by Alabama. Did he "opt out"? Probably. But at that point LSU wasn't going to a bowl game and he may have decided risking further injury for essentially no reward wasn't worth it.
In this season he starts the first 3 games before getting hurt in practice. How severe is the injury? Who knows. But whether he plays another snap for LSU or not, he's likely going to be taken in the first round of the NFL draft next season. So his decision to not play again this year isn't going to hurt his future job prospects. In fact, it might be returning to play at LSU too soon could result in worsening the injury which COULD hurt his future job prospects.
Look we are fans. We would all love to think "our guys" would want to give it there all for LSU. But the reality is this kid, RIGHT NOW, is set up for a lucrative future even if he never plays in an LSU uniform again. Who am I to say choosing to do just that is the wrong decision?
Posted on 10/1/21 at 4:44 pm to The Mick
Honestly I’d rather 3 star players they go 110% every snap to prove their pro potential rather than the blue chip 5 stars who are first round locks out of highschool

There have been multiple posts just on the OL attrition under O in the past two weeks. Come on Derek, pay better attention.

Is he getting the Ben Simmons surgery?
Posted on 10/1/21 at 4:47 pm to The Mick
Already had the surgery. Anyone bashing him for this needs to get a life!
Posted on 10/1/21 at 4:48 pm to Naptime
So, which is it, having or already had? Turn over the x-rays, angry doc.
