What a bunch of BS,just because of spending $$$ doesn’t mean victories.If that were the case the NYYankies would win every championship.All you people saying because LK spent 40 + mil he better win,how much did you contribute.There will be a lot of disappointed fans this season ,there are just to many variables team wise to expect a champ run .Common sense is soarly lacking by some on this board.

Expectations no longer exist. You either win or u stink. Cut and dry . It’s an assumption that u will or won’t.

In a vacuum this is true. And if this roster was constructed with the previous regime, I wouldn’t be nearly as excited or optimistic.
But man some of y’all are honestly underestimating the difference now with this coaching staff. We will now have a coaching advantage in games. Put that together with the talented roster, and it’s not ridiculous to expect a playoff berth.
Any post referencing “last year” as in relation to expectations this season are completely irrelevant and moot. Brian Kelly and Joe Sloan are gone y’all.

10-2 is the new standard, playing 9 conference games now. 2027 forward are our years to judge Kiffin. If he makes the playoffs this year, that's great and I hope he does.

Here's the thing: your post wasn't necessary because no one here or elsewhere in the LSU fanbase thinks it's championship or bust.
Year one installing a new system with nearly all new players and having Kiffins offensive roster still in place at OM who we play away, Deboer is in process of destroying Bama but, they still have a great roster, A&M and a few other tough games means 2 losses and the playoff is the goal this year and if they make some noise it's lagniappe.

I agree from the standpoint of not getting too far ahead of ourselves. I was caught up in it last season, no doubt. I'm expecting success, but the SEC and our schedule is very tough. I honestly don't expect a natty, but I do expect we are right on the verge or in the playoff.

With the amount of turnover on roster every year now is "year one" in many respects. Again, it was "year one" for the QB, RB, top 3 WRs, and 2 OL for Kiffin's OM team last year. The result? No. 1 offense in the country and CFP semi-finals. It could very well be "year one" again next year for Kiffin at LSU if multiple key players leave. That is the nature of the business today.

There's little reason to think OM will be a bad team. But that offensive roster will have a different coaching staff. Kiffin produced a top 3 (often the No. 1) offense in the SEC for 5 year prior with none of those players on the roster. Those players have yet to prove they can produce without Kiffin. Until proven otherwise, Kiffin is the constant...not the personnel.
To your point, no one is thinking "championship or bust". And rational people recognize LSU plays a tough schedule. But there are 12 CFP spots. The SEC secured 5 of them last season. It's not unreasonable to expect this LSU team, led by a HC who (a) took a largely new team to the CFP last season and (b) has proven to be able to get immediate results out of "new" players should be in the CFP discussions.

If Nuss had truly been healthy, I believe he would have been in the Heisman hunt. It turned out well because Kelly is gone and we got Lane. There is no need to pump the brakes. We have a playoff caliber roster. Staying healthy is needed for any team with playoff aspirations, but if we do, we will be in the conversation for a Natty.

A better example would have been the Mets, lol.
The Dodgers have won back to back World Series Championships with the 3rd highest payroll in 2024 and the highest payroll in 2025.
They beat the Yankees (2nd highest payroll) in the 2024 World Series and the Blue Jays (5th highest payroll) in the 2025 World Series.

$40 million is $40 million and up there as possibly the highest paid roster in college football.

Not many fans are claiming to need a championship, but many do think we need to be in the playoffs and that 8 wins would be a massive failure.

I think it's safe to say that this will be the best post-Kiffin Ole Miss offense for the forseeable future because they still have Lacy and Chambliss who Kiffin and co identified and brought in. There will be some drop off this year, but they will be dangerous and really hyped for this game in Oxford and that's the point. It's another tough game. It's going to take a hurculean effort to get through this season with 2 losses. Even with 3 "good" losses they should be in the CFP discussion.
