Who would have thought in 2021 that this would be the case

He’s just not that good, and the NFL will be too rough for him.

Never lived up to what seemed to be his potential after his freshman year.

I thought he dogged it quite a bit his last season.

It's difficult to spend a lot of money on what will be a gadget player on defense

His tape doesn't lie, he doesn't have a position, and he has a major knee injury on the books. Someone will take a flyer on him later, but he just didn't develop after his freshman year.

Hey, don't you know..."LSU misused him". They tried him at umpteen positions and he proved that he simply looks better in a uniform on the football field than his play is on the football field. Apparently, 32 NFL teams don't think he "was misused" since out of 140 players so far, no one has bothered to turn in his name to be announced. Once again, you take away his 2 outstanding games vs Arkansas and you have a meh player at best.

There are no NFL teams in Arkansas for him to beat up on.

Perkins is really good sometimes and almost nonexistent at other times. Not consistent enough.

Not sure why anyone is surprised.

I always liked him as a Tiger, but there really no position for him in the NFL

He has the size of a NFL safely with the skill set of an DE.

His entire freshman year was excellent. It was one of the best LSU freshman seasons of all-time. He impacted pretty much every game from the moment he started getting significant play and was player of the week in some fashion for 3 straight games against Ole Miss, Bama and Arkansas.

After his freshman year and the injury though, it was definitely hit or miss and meh.

Not a good DE. That is one of the positions LSU tried him at. When he had the great game vs Arkansas his FR season, they were totally unprepared for him as an EDGE. But then, teams realized they only had to put someone in front of him because he didn't have the strength to bull rush the blocker nor the moves to get around a blocker IF they knew he was coming across the LOS. He failed as a DE...just like he failed at LB...just like he failed as an extra S/hybrid LB/Star whatever cute term you want to call that position. Once again, he DOES look great in a uniform but that is it.

Meh, he put in 4 years and got his degree. He’s already had one serious knee injury. I can’t totally blame him for declaring

With his skill set, you’d think he could be very good on special teams because of his speed, but he just doesn’t seem to play hard every play.

Coming off the bench on obvious passing downs exclusively to pass rush and being an every down player are different things

3 of those 7.5 freshman sacks were on an Arky QB that attempted 54 career passes. He played well against Ole Miss but he was never really the stud people remember him as. And he never improved from that point because his game was flawed and easy to figure out how to stop
