So far as I am concerned he is failing to meet the goals for which he was hired. Do not see it trending upward.

On paper, our OL should've been better than USCw, A&M, or Bama's D-line.

I ‘ll Give you USC

but A&M and Bama?

Shemar Turner, Shemar Evans, DJ Hicks, were all top top 13 recruits and Scourton was the top edge rusher.

Campbell was #17 overall
Overton was #12 out of HS
Smith wa #24
Lawson was #48
Alexander was #15 overall
Keely was #2 overall

They’re rotating in mostly top 50
players on that DL with a few top 20 top 10 recruits.

What I've heard is we'll go to the Cheez It vs Illinois or Rutgers, or the Texas vs. Baylor.

The average tenure of championship teams’ head coaches in the CFP era is 7.4 years. So I suppose it depends how you define “quickly.”

At LSU
Saban - year 4
Les - year 3
Ed - year 3.7
BK - TBD

Now do LSU coaches. How many years for Saban, Les, and O?

This.

You can acknowledge that he’s made errors and criticize them without calling for his head at every chance. Either the critics will be proven right or proven wrong.

Agree

It seems as if most posters assume some fixed all-in or all-out position and work from there.

For one who tries not to get sucked into the real-time emotional abyss, last weekend was a bitter wake-up call. If someone had looked at the schedule and considering the turnover at skill positions, the A&M game should've been circled as a concern. What is inexcusable is having two weeks off for a chance at redemption in TS at night, and being completely and embarrassingly unprepared.

BK lost me last weekend. No excuses. Just win the games,

Harbaugh's record at Michigan 1st 4 years:
10-3
10-3
8-5
10-3

Then in the COVID year he was 2-4

He'd have been run out of town by most folks on this board.

He also lost his first 5 games vs Ohio State.

It's a different world now. You can literally buy an entire team now and transform virtually overnight. Look at Vandy and Miami

Vandy is a nice story but GTFOH, they are nowhere near being a title contender.

Miami lucked out getting Cam Ward. That's all. That team especially the defense sucks. They had a clover stuck up their asses far too long this season before it caught up to them.

Then you are Helen Keller then. Blind, deaf & dumb. The talent on the roster is going to make a significant jump moving forward.

Kelly came in following a 5-5 year and a 6-7 year. That's not really entrenched at the top.

Especially if you consider from 2014-2017 we didn't win more than 9 games any of those years. So the preceding 6/8 years prior to Kelly's arrival we didn't win more than 9 games.

Post of the day and you didn't even know it. For those that believe LSU has ever been a consistently elite football program, read it again. We expect to be what we've never been.
Kelly still deserves every bit of criticism. 10 mil a year will do that.

But our football savant mensa fan base, if you take more than three years to win a natty you should be fired.

.......It is mere coincidence that Miles and EdO won in their 3rd year. Miles was left an NFL team and recruited really well to keep it up. The SEC was weak with Saban just setting up at Alabama.

EdO was handed a great roster, if not an NFL roster, a set of great coaches and a deep recruiting base. Also EdO had once in a generation NFL first round heisman winning QB and caught lighning in a bottle.

Neither coaches would have done anything notable with a roster of 37 players, a broken culture and a recruiting base demolished by NIL and the transfer portal.

But the mensa gentlemen know a lot more than me.

I get it. Winning a NC is hard and takes time. The comparison is somewhat valid but also realize, Dabo and Kirby were a lot younger than Kelly when they took over their program and it was their first ever head job. Harbaugh is older and obviously had previous experience and eventually won a title, but that program was uncompetitive nationally in a 2-3 team conference for the majority of his time there.

I think firing Kelly is an over reaction, but it’s a different world than even a year ago and he and those mentioned are going to be judged by one metric moving forward. The CFP. The season is a colossal failure if you miss the playoffs. The bare minimum is qualifying for them.

Are you talking '07? The SEC hasn't been weak since maybe the 80s.

I had no axe to grind with BK. He left ND to try and win a natty before he retires. I'm all in for that. But he lost me last weekend. There are valid criticisms and it's well for us fans to voice them.

BK had 30+ yrs of HC when he was hired. He is not given the luxury of rookie mistakes like the weak recruiting staff his first two years, the implosion at the end of '22 after the big win vs Bama, the train-wreck on D last year, the paucity of talent on the D-side. Has he even brought it one player from HS or the portal that would see reps on the '11 team?

Maybe. But I think with either Ed or Les, the roster would be stronger in year 3 than it is with BK now.

As noted above, he lost this fan last week. Just win the games Brian.

I love that some pretend that Kelly inherited a team like Miles did after Saban.

I wonder at the fact Notre Dame has won eleven National Championships, twenty-two undefeated seasons, yet Kelly won zero there.
After three years Notre Dame is ranked higher than LSU.
All his failures are blamed on the Coach that he succeeded, despite the fact he has had failure after failure in selecting assistant coaches.

Well, Harbaugh cheated so he doesn’t really count.
