3rd down and red zone, Brennan was better.

Brennan was terrible on 3rd down and redzone.

Myles has lost the starting job twice, and both times to grad transfers. Once when he was really young and undersized, and once to the GOAT college QB.
nope. Myles didn't lose the job to Burrow.

Burrow wasn't even here for spring practice and O hadn't even contacted him. O only decided to go get a transfer after spring practice when Brennan didn't prove he was up to the task (and Brennan only had McMillian and Narcisse as his competition - the job was Brennan's to take).

Brennan basically lost the job in spring 2018 to nobody.

The stats exist. You are welcome to look. I've posted them many times. You're factually wrong

Max played as well as anyone couldve hoped for given the circumstances. No Gilbert, No Marshall, Not much of a Running game and not very good pass protection against some really good teams.
You can find #'s, stats, to argue a point in anything.

And Max did it as a freshman. Myles wouldve pissed all over himself, thrown into that situation as a freshman.

Brennan is a good QB, no doubt. Maybe he can figure out a way to beat MSU and Missoui this year and stay healthy. Time will tell.

It” = won us 2 games needing assists from an Ole Miss QB that threw 5 picks & a shoe.

Of course it is highly unlikely LSU wins the UF game without the shoe toss. But its not like LSU's defense was great that game even without the shoe. Yes, they were opportunistic, but they still gave up 600+ yards of offense and 24 points. Of the 5 games (combined) each started ONLY Florida finished with a winning reg season record. And at 8-1 with real playoff hopes going into that game I think we can all agree that was the toughest opponent, by far, either guy faced.

OM's QB did throw 5 INTs. But LSU's defense STILL did Johnson no favors. OM still scored 41 points (not counting the KO return) that LSU had to overcome.

Point being, NEITHER guy had much help from their Defense. And if we want to apply the same logic to Brennan he LOST to MSU in a game were LSU forced 4 turnovers and to Missouri where LSU won the TO battle +3. And if you want to get even deeper, compare the final few possessions for each in the shootouts vs. Mizzou and Ole Miss.

In the shootout vs. Mizzou LSU's last 4 possessions were: punt, FG, missed FG, turnover on downs to end the game (3 points)

In the shootout vs. MSU LSU's last 4 possessions were: TD, FG, punt, INT (10 points)

In the shootout vs. Ole Miss LSU's last 4 possessions were: FG, Int, TD, TD (17 points)

In the quasi-shootout vs. Florida LSU's last 4 possessions were: TD, punt, punt, FG, (10 points)

Thus, you can make an argument that despite each having good numbers in all 5 games one QB seemed to be better than the other late in the games

Virtually identical passing on 3rd down-

2020:

Brennan- 12/26 46.2%, 101 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs, 2 FDs, 88.78 rating

Johnson- 18/37 48.6%, 134 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 7 FDs, 87,.99 rating

Couldn't find sack exclusive rushing stats for yards, but Max did get 9 first downs on 3rd down with his legs and Myles got 0.

I’m not saying this isn’t the answer, but for a dual qb system to work, I think you need one to be a legit dual threat. Max is not that guy. Good strait line speed, but he’s not a dozer or a dancer.

On a side note, Jordy went in on Ponamsky again this week, as I believe he did last week as well. Thought they were tight, if not when did this change and what caused this?

This debate will be settled once camp starts and Max is seen taking the first of the 1st Team reps like he did in the spring.

They may try to keep Myles around by giving him the start against UCLA but he's not the guy.

So if he starts against UCLA and plays well they are going to replace him bc he's "not the guy".

O can't afford to start someone he doesn't think can lead the team to success. If Myles starts he's "the guy" until proven otherwise.

I don't get how the Brennen one more TD pass in 11 less attempts overcomes the Brennen 2 INTs (in 11 less attempts) to Johnson's 0 INT's then Brennan's 2 FD's trumps Johnson's 7 FD's to make MB's 3rd down rating higher.

It's not that complicated. The offense has more yardage and more yards per play under Brennan. He clearly has the better arm. If only he had "It"

By the Missouri game Brennan looked like a first round pick. The throws he was making in that game were absolutely ridiculous.

Johnson got the benefit of a defense finally not being absolutely totally garbage and an o-line that finally figured something things out.

I believe that it will be MB to start. If the opposing D line is causing issues by getting sacks or creating pressure, the Max comes in.

Just my .02.

Need to let Max start but Brennan get to play meaningful snaps throughout the year. Makes defense have to prepare for both quarterbacks each week.
