I’m not concerned that 5 years from now we’ll look back on this game and remember the pitiful offensive performance. I’m concerned about what this means for the rest of our season.
Exactly.
No one cares that we struggled with Tulane for a half in 2007 because we won a NC, and the flaws shown in that half were not a problem again in the season.
If LSU comes out and somehow blows Auburn away Saturday, then he's right. But if LSU can't score 10 points, then you can say the signs were already there.

Well,... certainly, the games themselves don't mean a lot.
The biggest win I've seen LSU lay on someone was a Curly Hallman team that put 77 points on somebody (Arkansas St?).
That was one of the worst LSU teams I've seen, so the score meant nothing.
But USUALLY, there's a distinct pattern to these games.
Starters completely outclass them, roll down the field in almost casual manner for a couple series, and then the backups come in. For good teams, the 2nd string puts a similar whipping on them- the immediate backups are almost as good as the starters, and more hungry.
It's usually when the 3rd team and freshmen get in, that the gameplay gets both sloppy and reasonably competitive.
We didn't see that yesterday, not on offense. The defense performed that way, but the offense- 3 and out first series, Burrow taking hits pretty consistently.
I just didn't see the separation of talent that I expected to see, and that's a big concern.

I don't think Syracuse was a rent a win since it was a home and home. I'm not implying that Syracuse was some juggernaut but I don't think it can be classified as a rent a win.

No you don’t
Nobody cares

Only 77-0 score I know of happened in the 70s against Rice or Wyoming

For the most part, he is right. I've seen teams absolutely kill teams by 70+ points a few games in a row and get stomped when they play a decent conference opponent. I've seen good to great teams play really lackluster against much lesser teams, but take care of business and look really good when it came to the big games. LSU really struggled with McNeese St. in 2010, barely had a lead at half and won by just 22, but then they beat a top 5 Bama team at home a few weeks later.
The conference games and big ones are really the only ones that mean anything when you win, but the very questionable play calling and the fact that LSU couldn't seem to get open WRs was concerning.

Notre Dame beat Michigan then beat
Ball State by 8.
This was sandwiched between a huge opening game at Jerry World and the SEC opener at Auburn. It’s discouraging, but a sleepwalk game if ever there was one. This will be a different team Saturday. Offense may still be terrible, but the effort will be markedly different. At least it should be. I hope. And if we win the SLU 31-0 game is just that score and a W.

You don’t have much going on in your life then, hey buddy? I’m sorry.

I remember the '96 Houston Game where Faulk had 360 All-Purpose yards. Scored 21 points in the 4th qtr. I caught the post game show.. Missed Gordy's rant though. I want to go back and catch it. Charlie was reaching. Yeah your takeaway from beating down a team you should isn't anything more than you took care of business and got guys ready for the following week.
I do remember the good ones but if lsu half-asses it like they did against McNeese in 2010.. I am good with it bc I knew the team didn't play hard and being from Lake Charles, the McNeese Fans 90% of them are lsu fans and enjoyed it was well. Last night, The Troy games, LSU played like hot garbage so I do draw concerns. Charlie is trying to make sunshine out of a wet diaper.

I remember OOC games against power 5 teams UW, WVU, Arizona, Syracuse and ASU etc. The only true rent a win games I remember are Houston (Faulk), Troy 08, and Troy last year.
As long as you win the rent a win games no one remembers regardless of your record. Unless something crazy happens Troy 08 or maybe OBJ field goal return.

That Arizona game was when I knew we were a force. Just went in and beat the hell out of them relentlessly.
This is very true. The Arizona coach, John Mackovic, said after the game that it looked like LSU came in with a mission to make a statement. What statement did LSU make Saturday night? A cluster frick of an offense is here to stay?

What message did we send last week against Miami? 33-17 is a beat down don't you think?
Honestly this game to me means nothing.just like the Tulane game in 07. Not saying this team is as good as 07 just that bad showings happen sometimes against bad teams. That doesn't define the team or the season they will have.
Short week of practice before a huge game at Auburn and after a big game against Miami. Do I wish they came out and play amazing yes but I'm not gonna be worried because of how we looked against Southeastern.

Hanny has to "tow the line" with the LSU admin.....or else.

Had a little bit better coaching in 2003 than we do now.

Specifically mentioned 2003.
Sorry Charlie, I remember those games well. We beat the breaks off ULM and Arizona. And we led La Tech 35-0 at the end of the first quarter. We did somewhat sleepwalk through Western Illinois though it wasn’t anywhere near the clusterfrick we saw last night.
So we are going to forget Miami along with SLU?

I remember Idaho in 1998, and the game was eerily similar to Saturday's game against SLU.
