This is exactly what i said in the other thread. It was not ruled as fighting during the game which is an important distinction. The conference can then review unsportsmanlike with ejections and determine if additional penalties are warranted. They didn't initiate any additional penalties (or upgrade it to fighting) so he should be good to go.

The BYU player with whom Haulcy was fighting...er being unsportsmanlike to, was also ejected for "unsportsmanlike conduct". He had to sit out the first half of the bowl game that followed. Houston didn't play in a bowl game.

Here's the play. I think people are getting caught up on semantics. They were fighting. It may not have been called "fighting", but that's what they were doing and clearly it was enough to warrant a 1 half suspension for the other player involved. Now, it's possible something changed over the summer. But if not, the rule says the suspension has to enforced the next season

LSU hasn’t opened at home since 2019, and that’s the only home game opener in a decade. Neutral or home/home, that’s ridiculous. Can anyone else in the P4 say that?

LSU schedules week 1 like a poverty program taking paycheck games. Finally break the neutral game cycle, and as usual can’t manage to get the first home game.

The real distinction is whether it's flagrant or non-flagrant. Good news on Cooley and hopefully, non-flagrant for Haulcy too.

Flagrant alone doesn't require a mandatory suspension. What it does do is allow the conference to review and determine if additional penalties should be added. The BIG12 either didn't review it, or they determine no additional penalties were needed. In either case, he should be good to go.

We need to schedule a cupcake home game in week 1. It's just smart program management.

Yeah but haulcy was way more contrite.

sure, but the discussion above about whether it's unsportsmanlike or fighting is whether it carries the suspension. flighting is flagrant unsportsmanlike, along with targeting. so, it's semantics, but the semantics matter in this case.

Correct

I’d start planning on not having Haulcy for a half, unfortunately.

All you can do is like USC did two or three years ago, and just play them anyway. There aren't penalties for that, as USC found out.

Sounds like he's really sorry for his actions and he won't do it again.

That’s the real difference here.

You don’t know when a BYU thug will fly off the handle.

Haulcy-he played that game without air conditioning. No suspension needed

If you get ejected for the last game of the season it shouldn’t impact the next season. Seems unreasonable.

Shouldn’t matter what the ejection is for.

And Bo Pelini played man coverage and tried to blitz vs. a Mike Leach offense. play the right scheme and it's a different game.

Or they should let the team decide if they want to invoke the penalty for week 1 or week 2 game.
It'll never happen and I'm just being bitchy today, but I said what I said.

Thankfully LSU doesn’t have to hold players to the same code of conduct as BYU. Tigers might be in trouble if that were the case lmao

Uh....make that about 1030 or 11. If we know by 9, that means it is either very good or very bad
