Did you happen to watch Hughes last season? Also did you see what he hit during summer ball?

He was 0 for shite!

They need to have a shakeup in the lineup now rather than later in the season.

No, it didn't. The guy is lying.

Lying seems harsh.

Seemed more like he was obviously joking.

What Spring? Has even even been on LSU's campus during Spring? Or are you referring to Fall or preseason maybe?

He’s talking about the Spring scrimmages...you know, the several we had prior to the season starting?

Crazy how everyone knew this needed to happen months ago but it took CPM..3 games to figure it out amd 1 big loss to Indiana

Just wait until people figure out the next two games are midweek games and Paul will undoubtedly go back to Hal for the weekend

He still hasn’t gotten an 1/8th of the cuts the other guys had. He’s so talented you stick him in their until he finds his bat. I’m not saying he’ll go 0-30 but I’d keep him in there until he finds his confidence and swing.

As good as he looked at football, he’s immensely better at baseball.

ETA: I think Hal is downvoting my post praising for praising Mo

Cade in the scrimmages would make a highlight play followed by and error hit right at him. The talent is there but he will need to be more consistent with the routine play.

I'm not completely sure that Mathis will be able to handle SS but it would open up a lot of options if he proves me wrong.

The worse part about this is if Dugas doesn't start hitting, there really is no point. You might as well keep Hughes in there and have a better defense.

I would like to give Cranford a shot at SS. Arnold perhaps has the most talent but missing this time with injury is really bad luck. By the time he comes back we will be in SEC play and he will be a true freshmen thrown into the fire.

Hampton might not be ready yet but you might as well get him some game competition now before SEC play. It should only help him.

I like the idea of Having Cabrera, Hampton and Toups in the outfield and putting Bianco at 2nd or 3rd if Dugas doesn't pick it up.

This, losing Arnold to start the season is pretty huge imo

2. Doughty stays in the lineup. Once at second, and I'm calling once at third.
3. Mathis spends a game at SS.
4. Hampton starts at least once in CF.

I called this yesterday. Looks like we might get two of each, instead of just one though.

Don't know why anybody is surprised at experimenting with the lineup in midweek games. It happens literally every season. In this particular seasons, we have more studs trying to break into the lineup than in recent history. It's not surprising at all. Best case scenario is Mathis handles SS well, and Doughty looks good at third. Dugas will have to hit, while playing second base, or it's all for nothing.

I’m pretty sure most regular boxtards are not surprised by these moves.

Good for Hughes. He came to LSU to do what he could do and it hasn't been good enough for anyone except Mainieri. Not his fault PM kept putting him out there. We all know what Hughes is and we know that there are other guys with more upside that need to play. Hampton is a guy you HAVE to give AB's to!

Think about Garza last yr...he was no better at the plate than Hughes. PM kept running him out there and he was our best hitter down the stretch.

I’m thinking it’s more A defensive minded move

You take Hughes out the lineup, the offense improves. So you can afford to have Hampton in there as your defensive specialist. He obviously has upside at the plate. He has a whale of a swing. Didn’t really love his approach. He’s going to K a lot

Yeah...I get it. I was being somewhat sarcastic. I'm just saying that Hughes probably doesn't have the game to keep playing SS for LSU and PM ain't doing him any favors leaving him out there. I could see him come in for some late-inning defense and contribute that way.

He is what he is and this can't be much fun for him.

This is only factual if Dugas actually hits. He didn’t look comfortable at all this weekend at the plate.
