UCLA was probably just going to be playing for 4th anyway. Minnesota will at least be thrilled jist to be there.

Well moving on…do we know which apparatus we start on for Saturday?

This is so not fair. There needs to be a change. Meanwhile, Faith Torrez looks like she will win the all around and she has never competed it the whole entire year. In my opinion, you should be required to compete in it during the regular season a few times to be eligible to compete it at nationals.
Yes, there should be a requirement of having competed AA a minimum number of times. But that's not what really unfair. What's unfair is having separate sessions scored against each other for the AA. They really need a separate AA session with the top maybe 8-12 girls. Then they'd actually be scored against each other. Some of the bias is that the judge is thinking, x routine that I just saw was better than anything else I've seen today. But they really don't remember the previous session that well.

With OU, I feel like they land more with their feet far apart which is easier to stick but should be deducted for it, but they aren’t. They do this every year and I’m surprised the other teams don’t try it. Guess they would get deducted for it though cause not OU.
I think part of it is the girls are a different style of gymnast. Although they are all good at most everything, OU has bars/beam queens and LSU has powerhouses, except for Konnor and Kailin. Powerhouses are great vaulters and tumblers. But control is always a problem for them. Beam requires complete control. Bars is all about swing. You need strength, but not the same power. I wonder if you measured the height of the 2 schools tumbling/vaults if LSU flies higher? I bet they do. Power girls always struggle a bit with beam and bars. Look at Chiles...look at Biles. They are both power.

Proximity to an airport hub, centrally located for usual contenders.
Where would the attendance not suck?

I was worried about being in that session. If we can’t finish ranked #1, it’s better to be 4 and be in the night session.

We were in the night session last year, as #1 seed.

So lsu vs ok again?
It’s LSU vs OU vs Florida. But if we have a repeat of yesterday, Minn could beat us as well. We have to be at the absolute top of our game to win.

Didn't get to watch it until late last night. Whew that meet had me stressed out.
On a bad note we had two bad sessions in bars and beam. On a good note, we were good enough to advance with two bad sessions.
We can beat OU and Florida, but we just can't have any bad sessions, much less two.
Caitlin, Amari, and Konnor kind of saved us last night. We'd be out if it wasn't for them being on all night.
When Kaliya balance checked on her beam I got a really bad feeling in my stomach. But we pulled it out on floor.
I don't know what Roethlisberger, the announcer, was talking about when it was coming down to the last few routines. Georgia's final vaulter had a pretty bad vault, stepping backwards twice and almost falling down, it was a minimum .2-.3 deductions and that was if everything else was perfect. So i was expecting something in the high 9.6's or low 9.7's. The score came in as a 9.6 something and Roethlisberger was like "I DONT KNOW THESE JUDGES MUST HAVE SAW SOMETHING THAT I DIDN"T BECAUSE THAT SCORE IS LOW." Wtf are you talking about dude, it was one of the worst vaults of the night.
On we go

It’s like I can’t even take these gym competitions seriously because of all of the bias.
Itis definitely some BS. Judging varies way too much to let it ride on one night and especially given they are at separate times. Evening meet was definitely overscored more.
I'm seriously to the point to where I hate OU gymnastics an their wide arse squat landings more than I hate Alabama football.

But OU has been in the 198s and is in Ft Worth and always get the benefit of the doubt
How can anyone beat that?

I have a sliver of hope. We have to be perfect. I think if we're perfect we can beat them and also just pray that the judges even across the board.
And I hate it but I really wish Jay would start teaching wider landings to get more sticks. The judges clearly don't punish OU for them one bit. The benefit of a stuck landing with your feet together on the mat has virtually disappeared so why even try for that. It's like the 3 pass routine on floor almost being extinct. Why do three passes when you are just opening yourself up for more deductions when you can hit all your marks in two passes?
I've said it for most of the year that a final four would be a very solid accomplishment for this team, I think next year should probably have a slightly better team that has a better shot at the title.
They've got a lot to be proud of, it's been a good year, but they are certainly going to have to be better than last night if they want a shot at the title.

It was close to the worst score of the night - 24th of 28 competitors.
The 4 middle scores of 6 judges were the ones averaged for the score.
There were four 9.75s, one 9.80 and one 9.85. The 9.85 and one 9.75 were dropped. The average was 9.7625.
Having 6 judges really helps eliminate most of the bias in scoring. I think the surprise was that she was the final/anchor spot for UGA. But she messed up and was scored consistently by 4 of 6 judges.
Link to scoring
Scroll down to the Lineups header and select the team. You will see all scores. Then select the individual gymnast name and you will see the scores from all 6 judges.

We had the lowest of the 4 scores so we will probably start on floor or beam
Posted on 4/17/26 at 10:00 am to LSUDonMCO
What I saw, we start on floor and end on beam. I HATE that rotation but we won in 2024 with that.
They just better be FAIR in judging...none of this save the highest scores for the last competitors bullshite that happened yesterday. Kiera Wells' vault was NOT better than Chio or Lincoln...but she scored higher. Jordan Chiles got the score she got because of her name because she totally slid on her first landing but did not get counted off...Chio should have won floor also.

Just glimpsed at a couple of clips of the sessions and noticed the stands are mostly empty. Is this normal?

Right. I normally like Roethlisberger and he seems to like LSU a good bit usually and maybe he was just playing up the drama but it was just odd.
Thanks for the link, that's pretty handy. 6 judges is such a better system. Wish normal meets could at least get 3-4. Two judges can be so inconsistent.
OU's leadoff winning the vault title and getting three 10's

He was letting his bias affect his announcing. He was clearly cheering for Georgia to make top 2.
