They should be stacked next year, with that said they absolutely have the talent to win it. As mentioned before if they consistently stick they can beat anyone.

It was really, really close. If the A/C had been 9n, it would have been enough to knock her over.

the stands are mostly empty. Is this normal?

It was semi-finals on a Thursday. I feel like they are always sparse. I imagine the finals will be alot less empty, but mostly OU fans. We always talk about going, but it really was a horrible weekend for us to try to this year.

I have a sliver of hope. We have to be perfect. I think if we're perfect we can beat them and also just pray that the judges even across the board.

And I hate it but I really wish Jay would start teaching wider landings to get more sticks. The judges clearly don't punish OU for them one bit. The benefit of a stuck landing with your feet together on the mat has virtually disappeared so why even try for that. It's like the 3 pass routine on floor almost being extinct. Why do three passes when you are just opening yourself up for more deductions when you can hit all your marks in two passes?

I have a pretty big sliver of hope. We have lots of places that we can improve, lots of places where we are normally better.

Wider landings will get you .1 off at the most if stuck. Deep squats get more off because there's usually a reason they ended it that way.

We should not do 3 floor passes unless that's the only way we get a 10 sv. Every coach my daughter ever had said you should always do the minimum required to get a perfect routine and therefore your highest score. It's not like the Olympics where your sv can go over 10.

Yea I say sliver because of judging. I believe in the girls for sure. Though I think next year will be better, this team is still pretty special.

It used to. For about 6-7 years now it does not seem to be that way. OU has it perfected where they can land with their feet shoulder width apart or wider and just suck their feet back in during their pose and the judges treat it like it's a perfect landing. It absolutely drives me nuts.

I think it was the 2019 national championship where they were just crazy wide landings all night and the judges weren't taking anything off and they won the title. In my head I was like ok the judges/ncaa gymnastics is going to look at that and they are going to have to start penalizing for that type of landing. Nope. LSU and Florida (I hate to admit it) would both do themselves a service if they adjusted their landings instead of trying to stick with your feet close together because you're creating difficulty with seemingly no added benefit.

Right. I think the coaches wanted Emily Innes to just do two passes this year but she told them she wanted to do three because of the challenge. I'd have to have been like sorry girl, we're trying to win, you're going to do two.

Gymnastics won't be popular till it goes to the seventh digit past the decimal in scoring.

As if they don’t have enough to complain about already, the general public within the gymternet would complain even more about us if Jay had Emily doing a 2 pass routine (in the same way we do for OU’s double like/front though to double tuck routines) for the sheer fact that her passes are not up to the difficulty level that’s the same as Chio’s is or Aleah’s was. She’d need to open with a more difficult non-twisting e pass which she doesn’t have in her arsenal, or do a cartwheel to back layout step out (a la Coen) somewhere in her routine which for me personally waters down the routine even further and makes it look more like a lvl 8/9 routine vs up to the level in NCAA type routine to fulfill the backwards tumbling requirements. I excuse it with Bryant because she opened with a double front but that’s basically what oklahoma does and we complain non stop about their boring basic cookie cutter routines year after year

Raise your hand if you couldn't give two shits what the gymnernet thinks.

I don't care what she does. But the sport is going away from three pass routines. I like her routine, when she hits it's a 9.90 routine. But if I'm being honest on a team this deep I think that a senior, one event specialist, should probably have a little higher ceiling than a 9.90 routine but that's just me being slightly spoiled with how good we've been. She's only got one routine left in an LSU uniform, I hope this next one is her best one yet.

I think it’s good because it’s not close to any of the top schools. Well I guess Okla but they can’t fill their arena for a home meet. If you had it at an lsu or Utah you risk swaying the judges even more.

I like that order for us personally. It’s the order we won with 2 years ago and in my opinion, this is a better floor team from top to bottom than the 2024 team. Also, with it being our best event, we can get our momentum going early then keep throwing gas in the fire and close out meet with our 4 all americans. I think had we started on bars or beam, it could’ve opened ourselves up to falling victim to more deductions and nerves from the start and force us to have to claw our way back into it

Well on the squaty landings I also wish they wouldn’t let them dance out of passes but that’s not happening so.

Also I’m super proud of where this team is. Even if we come in fourth tomorrow I’m totally cool. We lose 2 routines this year and that’s all! Compared to last year where you lost 11 routines, this team has really shown out. Just hope everyone gets their cleanup surgeries and stays healthy this off season.

ETA: if we don’t win, I hate to say I’m really going for Fla. if the can’t win this year they most likely never will.

Agree - if Florida can't win with the amount of Elite talent they have this year, they never will. That said, Geaux Tigers!
