Don't forget about Lowell Narcisse. I would put him in front of every QB we have except Etling and I see him about even with McMillan by the time the fall roles around. This is only if, Lowell can learn the system by the fall. I feel like Lowell has the Physical stature, arm strength, speed, leadership and confidence to start at QB, but we'll see if he has the QB football IQ. I think by the fall of 2018 Brennan will probably be starting or coach O may pull a 2 man job with L. Narcisse and M. Brennan playing against specific teams based on the opposing teams weaknesses. But that's a maybe.
We also have a couple QB's on our roster most fans don't know about. I am not saying these guys will compete, and they are more than likely on the roster just in case something were to happen. But they are both a couple years older than most and it is possible they could compete or at least backup our active QB's.
Caleb Lewis 6'4" 220 lbs.
Trey LaForge 6'6" 210 lbs.

Good for reps if he was going to transfer anyway. Bad in the sense that we really don't have a proven solution on the roster with or without him.

I hope it is good for the Brandon Harris. I think it is bad for the program.

Good because we won't have to hear the "what-ifs" all year
Clearly you don't know how this works. I expected more from you Fonzerelli.

I'm just happy it's a known fact that Lindsey could be the back up this year and we get to see him play a lot in spring with some ones.

A very good move by Brandon Harris. He can now build on what he has learned at LSU and bring to another school with 2 years of eligibility left.

Good for LSU and him.
Now LSU can use Etling this year and get the backup ready for 2018.
I think Harris only issue was whether he could graduate in order to transfer out by the summer. It will be hard to go to another Power 5 without spring and win a job. ULL probably would be the best fit at this point for him to play his last year.
I was hopeful Canada would have found a package for him and utilize him but if Canada truly wants an accurate QB - Harris is not that in the short to intermediate game.

Good for him. Good for LSU. WIN/win.

He was a highly touted recruit and Ohio State wanted him bad, and they were stacked at QB.
And you think he would have started over any of them? In fact, it's more likely he would have transfered from there after riding the pine. He started as a true frosh, sooner than any QB at LSU in almost two decades.

We have Etling, a freshman with two knee injuries and a freshman who wont arrive until the summer. We could have used him for depth.
There are two other QBs on scholarship. Harris would be #6. On paper, LSU hasn't been that stacked at the position in a while.

As far as I'm concerned it's good news.

Bad for LSU with lack of playing time at the QB position. Etling could get crushed.
Good for BH if he desire to become a Pro one day. I think he has the goods to be a draft selection. Needs a school/system that works better for him.

His call...good if he wants to leave..

Good for LSU.
My take is that the coaches (including Canada) have evaluated everyone, and determined that Etling is the starter. No hesitance, no "we'll see how practice goes", just- this is the starter, we'll prepare the offense with his skills in mind. If he goes down, we're going with a younger guy to build on, not throwing in a short term bandaid.
This means we should see a more cohesive passing game.

He will sit out for a year if he stays in D1. The unconditional release part just means that he can go anywhere he wants to... like one of our rivals.
He'll be eligible to play immediately due to the graduate transfer rules.
Hopefully he can be another Trubisky if he goes.

He graduates in May, so he will be a free agent and be able to play anywhere immediately.
Are you sure? Isn't he a true Jr? Impressive if he graduates in 3 years.
