5. John Plumlee Ole Miss

4. Jamie Newman Georgia

3. Mac Jones Alabama

2. Kellen Mond Texas A & M

1. Kyle Trask Florida

Just something that Coach O, Ensminger, and Linehan can use as motivation for Brennan.

Everyone is going to sleep on Myles just like they did Burreaux. And then watch. Another ship

Preseason rankings mean shite.

quote:

6. Joe Burrow, LSU

Burrow was a huge pickup as a graduate transfer at the conclusion of spring practice for coach Ed Orgeron last season. The Ohio State transfer provided a steady presence under center, completing 57.8 percent of his throws for 2,894 yards and 16 touchdowns to five picks. Burrow also added 399 yards and seven rushing scores. The Ohio native saved his best performances for the end of 2018 season, scoring six times versus Texas A&M and accounting for 394 passing yards and four touchdowns against UCF in the Fiesta Bowl. LSU’s transition to more of a spread offense should be a great fit Burrow’s skill set.

5. JOE BURROW, LSU

Joe Burrow (Photo: Gregory Shamus, Getty) The verdict: Coming off his best game as a collegian during bowl season vs. UCF, a confident Burrow enters his second and final season in Baton Rouge with plenty to play for as a senior starter for the Tigers. Not only did Burrow provide the offense with stability as a leader, but his numbers should be even better in 2019 thanks to the addition of new passing game coordinator Joe Brady. Last fall, Burrow managed the fourth-highest total in passing yards in a season (2,894), third-highest number of completions (219) and second-best total yards in a season (3,292) in program history. He has a nice collection of playmakers at wide receiver who should show out this fall.

8. Joe Burrow, LSU

I hear you. The numbers aren’t there. You think he’s overrated. You don’t even think he’s one of the better SEC quarterbacks. I disagree. I see someone who constantly put LSU on his back in key moments and was a massive reason the Tigers made their first New Year’s 6 Bowl of the Playoff era. With nearly all of his receivers returning and with LSU expected to improve on the offensive line, I like Burrow’s chances of improving. He’ll be working with new passing game coordinator Joe Brady on implementing more RPOs, which Burrow is plenty capable of running. I’m buying stock in Burrow to take the next step and lead a top-20 offense.

While I believe Brennan will likely be very good this year, folks outside of LSU can’t really be faulted for not immediately anointing him just because he studied for two years under Joe and looked good in mop-up duty.

Wow, you mean analysts aren't ranking a guy that's never played?

To be fair, he’s seen all of them play, Myles didn’t get much legit playing time last year.

Good.

Most people didn't have Burrow rated very high coming in to 2019 eather.

Even on this board.

That doesn't surprise me, dude doesn't know a thing about a Myles Brennan, but he'll soon find out. I hope this upcoming season!

Didn’t he have Felipe Franks #1 last year? Gene loves some gator.

I would seriously doubt anyone, even a former Auburn coach had anyone but Tua #1 going into last year

Brennan at worst, is 3rd in the conference IMO.

Down year for SEC QB.

He's very much a better pro prospect than any of those guys except maybe Newman

If Chizik’s assessment bothers you, you don’t want to see 247’s.

quote:

14. Ken Seals, Vanderbilt
13. Myles Brennan, LSU
12. Shawn Robinson, Mizzou
11. Jarrett Guarantano, Tennessee

Brennan has thrown like 50 passes in his entire time at LSU. He doesn't deserve to be high on a preseason top 5 like this even though he will probably be better than every guy on this list.

5. John Plumlee Ole Miss

Crazy good athlete but he had a lot of trouble throwing teams out of the box last year. Going to be interesting to see how teams adjust to him.

quote:

4. Jamie Newman Georgia

Good qb but unless Kirby embraces the spread he will be a square peg in a round hole.

2. Kellen Mond Texas A & M

He did a pretty good job last year so I don't have a problem with him being there. We will see how he handles being "the guy".

Well I know Kyle Trask is really good but I have no clue about the others. Mac Jones didn't impress me that much, he about average.

Why are people shocked by this?

Brennan hasn’t done anything yet.

I’m not saying Brennan won’t be really good but he’s barely played. To put him in a top 5 would be very premature.

However, Kellen Mond sucks.
