The Ohio State transfer provided a steady presence under center, completing 57.8 percent of his throws for 2,894 yards and 16 touchdowns to five picks. Burrow also added 399 yards and seven rushing scores. The Ohio native saved his best performances for the end of 2018 season, scoring six times versus Texas A&M and accounting for 394 passing yards and four touchdowns against UCF in the Fiesta Bowl. LSU’s transition to more of a spread offense should be a great fit Burrow’s skill set.

Not only did Burrow provide the offense with stability as a leader, but his numbers should be even better in 2019 thanks to the addition of new passing game coordinator Joe Brady. Last fall, Burrow managed the fourth-highest total in passing yards in a season (2,894), third-highest number of completions (219) and second-best total yards in a season (3,292) in program history. He has a nice collection of playmakers at wide receiver who should show out this fall.

I hear you. The numbers aren’t there. You think he’s overrated. You don’t even think he’s one of the better SEC quarterbacks. I disagree. I see someone who constantly put LSU on his back in key moments and was a massive reason the Tigers made their first New Year’s 6 Bowl of the Playoff era. With nearly all of his receivers returning and with LSU expected to improve on the offensive line, I like Burrow’s chances of improving. He’ll be working with new passing game coordinator Joe Brady on implementing more RPOs, which Burrow is plenty capable of running. I’m buying stock in Burrow to take the next step and lead a top-20 offense.

Brennan has thrown like 50 passes in his entire time at LSU. He doesn't deserve to be high on a preseason top 5 like this even though he will probably be better than every guy on this list.
