why are people wanting Simmons to fail?

many LSU fans do not like Simmons at all. he was much of a disappointment at LSU (altho some of that was lack of talent around him) because our expectations were very high.

lastly, he was one and done. LSU is a university; an athlete that goes there for merely one year is not and never will be a rep of LSU. many fans, myself included, consider college at least quasi amateur sports, and the one and done is the WORST rule in my lifetime. I would not be disappointed if men's basketball were to be discontinued as a college sport; let the damn NBA pay for their minor leagues.

Kings beat 76ers with late rally where Temple makes Simmons look silly.

Simmons left the game in the 3rd up 71-60.

Simmons re-entered the game at 10:32 in the 4th down 76-78. They had their late rally with Simmons off the floor

To think Temple would have this long of a NBA career is amazing. He should be the poster child that if you play defense the NBA will find a spot for you.

I second this.. Ben stayed after every LSU home game.. took pictures and signed autographs with any kid that wanted to, never complained, always extremely nice to the kids

But the one thing I don't agree with, is his bashing college/NCAA in general... his beef should be with the NBA, it is their rule and also he was not forced to go to college, he could have went overseas, prep school, sat out or even the D/G League, he CHOSE to got to college because it was the best option for his "brand"

CSB warning ... I was eating breakfast at Louie's a few days before the Sweet 16 game against Duke and Garrett and his dad sat next to us at the bar. He got a big stack of pancakes. I joked with him that he needed to stay light to guard JJ Reddick. He laughed and said, "that dude can't get away from me." Then he made JJ cry.

Wouldn’t know. Maybe because he touts that he learned nothing at LSU and that it was a waste of time.

Yeah, I'd put that more on JJ than Ben - & the rest of the system that just allowed him to come in and do whatever he felt like doing (miss class, etc).

So you're that insecure about what a kid said who arguably did waste 6 months of his life at college. The remark wasnt even directed at LSU, more so on the fact that he was forced to spend half a year in college which literally made no impact on his future.

By the sound of things, some of you really need to start concentrating on your own life, Rather than worrying about a teenagers.

So here is the thing. There are a lot of 18 year olds who waste six months of their life before they realize college isn't really what they want. But Simmons knew this for years before he attended LSU. He already knew he was going to be a pro basketball player and that is all he wanted to do. And yet he still chose to go to college and a small time school like LSU. Why did he do this? Because the rules said he had to sit out a year before the NBA and it was the best way to promote his career, get media attention and sign that big shoe contract and other endorsements.

And yet Simmons says he had no other choice and he was screwed over by the NCAA. Number one it is a rule of his precious NBA and not the NCAA. Number two he could have played pro ball in Australia, Europe or any other place he wanted to.

So then, after having made "His Choice", instead of making the best of it and accepting he needed to go to class and make the minimum effort to be a college student, he forced Johnny Jones to not start him and sit him on the bench for five minutes. Ben then threw a childish tantrum and never gave 100% effort for the rest of the season. I, personally, watched in disbelief as he let much slower, smaller players dribble around him for uncontested layups time and time again. In big games he would disappear and never, ever showed any leadership.

Simmon's supporters always point to his stat line to show how great he was at LSU. That was a result of how insanely athletic he was and what wonderful personal ability he had. Unfortunately he could never translate that body into a leader willing to do anything to win. Nor could he be a person that could discipline himself to wait just a few months before all his dreams came true. A sad stupid moment in time for both LSU and Simmons that got drowned in a hurricane of bad PR that did neither of them any good.

Man if he was "dogging it" and still had one of the best seasons by a Tiger ever, imagine if he'd tried hard.

The Simmons hate will forever be ridiculous on here. He had a great season, the coach and team tanked it. People got more upset when he said the obvious which is he learned nothing here because he wasn't here to play school and the coach couldn't teach a damn thing. We were lucky to get him for 6 months because his godfather was on staff. Apparently people dont understand to hate the system not the person who excelled in the short time in it.

I've said it a million times but everyone would be kissing his feet on here if that team made the tournament and did damage in it, but because it underachieved, all the blame apparently goes on Simmons...

What???

Simmons was one of the rare cases in sports where a “once in a generation” high school player lives up to the hype almost immediately.

- Did you learn a whole lot during your freshmen year of college?

- Did you learn how to handle millions of dollars during your freshmen year?

- Did you learn “who you are as a person” during your freshmen year?

No. No. And No.

There’s no need to get your panties in a wad over his comments. He was 18 and being coached by a moron, obviously he didn’t learn anything.

Dude, that makes him a rookie in the NBA.

He's going to easily win NBA rookie of the year
