From the medical team already looking at it, and Edwards’s and his dads reaction it just seems like a Strain or pulled muscle. It could still be a tear upon MRI. But is seems more likely to me a minor injury at this stage rather than major.

That’s good to hear! Hoping for a favorable outcome.

Doc it was said that after he came back to the dugout the ice pack was placed on his forearm not elbow. Can we draw anything from that?
Posted on 4/8/23 at 6:25 pm to OGtigerfan87
Depends on exactly where it was placed. But, that sounds promising!
The UCL is small, and limited to a very small area. An ice pack would likely be applied to the medial elbow if the problem was the UCL. But an ice pack could cover a large area, and what one calls “the forearm” could be the elbow but with the ice pack covering down into the forearm, etc.
But yeah, I’m hopeful upon hearing that.

The ice pack was definitely on forearm, not even touching elbow. We were sitting right on top of dugout and I saw it when he came out.

That’s great, then! Very very good to hear that.

Yeah I think they know Shores is TJ bound.
I was concerned about our bullpen before Shores and Edwards went down.
We've got a major problem.

One big surprise is Guidry on the back end and hoping Collins and Hurd can find it. Collins has looked better in the last 2 appearances. We need all hands on deck.
I was looking forward to Little pitching the 3rd game at SC but may have to wait for the Tulane game on Tuesday to see him.

First thank you for bringing an educated point of view. To me his reaction didn’t seem immediate at all and he kinda let his arm hang didn’t pull it into his midsection. Hoping that is better news would be great to have him back sooner rather than later.

That makes a difference. Thanks for adding that. I appreciate you and the others contributing more details. It helps. The more details that are coming out, the better this is all looking.

That's why I was wondering if anyone of the magic GIF makers here had the injury reaction GIF. Yes, I'm lazy.

His change up is usually 84-86, that seems like a fastball that was spiked cause of his injury

Coming in here trying to levy a medical opinion based on something you didn’t witness and only heard through the grapevine isn’t helpful. It’s disingenuous. Maybe do a little research next time
So this is how you respond after calling him an imposter. You lose and are a loser.

Yeah i didnt remember seeing him pull it into his midsection either, i remember him hanging it out and low to the ground

He also said he didn’t hear a pop. Doesn’t mean there wasn’t one, just that he didn’t hear it. I’ve never had that injury so I don’t know how loud it would be, if crowd noise would prevent you from hearing it, or if you would feel it. The videos I’ve seen of pitchers tearing their UCL, they usually react like they got stung by something.

You would feel a pop too man trust me as well as maybe hear but def feel a pop too he would know difference
Posted on 4/8/23 at 10:22 pm to clownbaby
You don't really hear a pop, regardless of the crowd noise. When they say they hear a pop, they mean that they felt a pop. It's a pronounced feeling that resonates internally.
Honestly, sounds like inflammation build up. Shelf him and rehab him for a few weeks and back to new...but probably have to be careful moving forward if he's susceptible.
