We finish with Auburn. State, and Georgia who today are a combined 7-27. And before that we get Bama n Ole miss , so after Kentucky it softens up considerably..that will help seeding purposes if we can capitalize; and hopefully we get our pitching much stronger for tournament time because that's 6 weeks out easy.

Edit : 7-27 in SEC play

This^^^ They're trying to put on a favorable spin and be optimistic, but it means nothing until he's had an evaluation by the orthopedic specialist and an MRI.

Don’t think it’s a UCL. More than likely a Pronator muscle strain. If that’s the case some therapy and he’ll be back.

If that’s the injury, how long do you think he’ll be out?

I mean the fact they don’t think it’s the elbow at all does mean something lol

I mean it really is all elbow related. These structures all attach to or are adjacent to the elbow “region”. it’d be more accurate to make the distinction between a muscular injury and a ligamentous injury, but it’s still an elbow

(For disclosure, I’m a Sports Medicine physician, and our office diagnoses and treats athletes with these types of injuries. I’m not here to be a “know it all”, but as a LSU fan and occasional consumer of this forum, I try to contribute where and when I can).

Of course I remain hopeful, but it doesn’t sound good. I didn’t see the game, but from what people were saying, it seemed as if he reeled his arm in quickly to his midsection. This is very typical of an UCL injury, vs strain to a wrist pronator. Or for that matter, any muscle involved in forearm pronation. A small UCL tear can and many times will, not be detected upon physical examination (by either a trainer or physician). It will take more detailed examination and imaging (MRI) to get more details.

Again, I promise I’m not trying to be a “Debby downer.” I pull hard for these young men, and want the best for their careers, bit collegiate and afterwards for those who get that shot.

It’s just that, from what I’m hearing, it doesn’t sound good at all.

Pray for the young man, and let’s hope for the best.

Except this would be referring to the pronator teres, which pronates the forearm and flexes the elbow.

Not a wrist pronator

ETA: you sound like a hack

Before you act like an a-hole, why don’t you research a little. The wrist pronator muscle group, has its origin at the elbow, and insertion at the radius, to where it gives a pronation movement to the wrist. This is the muscle group in the forearm usually injured by throwing athletes.

Sure, the pronator teres is involved also. This sits with the rest of the wrist/forearm pronators.

Two muscles in the forearm, the pronator teres and pronator quadratus, work together to achieve pronation by pulling on the radius bone of the forearm.

Not really. We'll just have to agree to disagree. Don't get me wrong. I'm hoping as much as anyone that he's not on his way to TJ surgery. But, until he's had an MRI and orthopedic surgeon evaluation, anything said at this point is just speculation.

Why don’t you watch the game before coming in here bloviating and speculating?

I explained that I didn’t see the event. Just had people telling me that he “suddenly pulled his arm into his midsection.”

I’m just trying to be helpful. You don’t have to be a jerk about it.

Coming in here trying to levy a medical opinion based on something you didn’t witness and only heard through the grapevine isn’t helpful. It’s disingenuous. Maybe do a little research next time

I explained myself in my original message. I didn’t extrapolate other than to say, it doesn’t sound good, but I remain hopeful. I had friends at the game that explained to me what they saw.

As physicians, we usually are NOT at the athletes games. We go on patient history. This doesn’t sound good… that’s all I’m saying. Muscle injury seldom leads to an athlete responding thus way.

I hope it’s NOT an UCL injury. I’m not trying to prove anything here. I hope the young man is ok. I’m just saying, if you are the praying type, then pray for the man. Is that ok?

Sounds like they are getting a second opinion on Shores, which means they don't like the first opinion

Look up LSU Baseball Wheels on YouTube, he usually has a highlight video after games. The injury happened in the bottom of the 5th (bases were loaded).

Praying is ok, but speculating on an event you have no direct knowledge of is inappropriate. You don’t have a patient history here, just word-of-mouth from some baws you know. understand that we all care about the kid, but you’re adding nothing to this conversation other than unnecessary alarm to an already concerned fan base. I hope your bedside manner is better than this
