I think I found a seldom applied SEC rule. Rule 2.3 D states that "if a game has started within 30 minutes of the latest possible starting time, gets halted at least twice, and then can't be resumed at a reasonable time, the game becomes official after two innings. If the score is tied, the team with the most hits is awarded the victory.
