But he’s was comparing Kelly with Auburns coaching situation, no?

It was just a terrible segway by Finebaum saying "speaking of a guy who was about to be counted out and counted down, he's now the toast of Louisiana, Brian Kelly...." The guest quickly responds that Kelly was in "nowhere near the hot water of the other guys we talked about."

To be fair, there were some people...LSU fans...ON THIS VERY BOARD...who were "down on Brian Kelly" after the FSU game. The screenshot, of course, is inexcusable.

It's not just LSU fans, but many LSU fans seem to have a far greater sense of insecurity than other fanbases and bristle at ANYTHING which can be perceived as a "slight". But the REALITY is LSU completely lost its credibility and the benefit of the doubt with the poor performance over the last two years. Like it or not, LSU has been a .500 program recently. They aren't going to get "national respect" back until they prove it with results. Losing to an average FSU team in embarrassing fashion (a blocked XP) didn't help win back that respect. Saturday's win over MSU in which LSU was an underdog going in was the first step in earning back that respect.

If come November LSU is 7-1, or even 6-2 heading into the game vs. Alabama, you'll see national pundits talking about how LSU may have a shot at upsetting Alabama.

Free advice: Quit overreacting one way or the other after each individual game in year one of the Brian Kelly era.

Half the fans here were trashing Kelly and about a quarter wanted him fired after FSU. Is it really surprising the the national media is piling on too?

Finebaum didn't say Kelly was toast. Said he was toast of the town. That is the opposite of being toast.

He also said he was "out and counted down". Which is not an actual saying or phrase.

There were LSU fans on this board calling Brian Kelly a bad coach in the first quarter of the Mississippi State game.

Funny example of ESPN’s bias against LSU and Brian Kelly

When someone at ESPN like SVP or Herbstreit says something good about LSU do you make a post about that or do you just think that there is some national agenda against us?

I said Kelly was a bad coach in the first half of the MSU game? I don't think Kelly is a bad coach. I do think the coaching staff had a bad game against FSU though and made mistakes in the first half against MSU.

I listened to this Sunday...that's not the way I interpreted Finebaum's words at all.

Agreed. I just watched the clip and thought it was mostly positive commentary about Kelly and the program. Kelly's persona has softened a little in recent years.

Russillo (who is keyed into LSU and will admit he is a “fan”) straight up said “LSU fans, the media doesn’t like your coach”

So this isn’t LSU fans being sensitive. The way he said it was that this is definitely a thing.

Finebaum has been sucking off Alabama for so long…

Their dominance is slipping and Paul will be out of a job soon

Ouch, but very true... Even during 2019 it took the national media time to warm up to us, except Tebow (who obviously saw Burrow as having the it factor for the Heisman). It's always "felt" like national media never gives LSU any benefit of the doubt like they do USC, OH, OK, ALA, GE, CLEM, ND, Mich, & TEX.

Someone on here can find the Tebow link where they all laughed at him and he made the claim that the Heisman is Burrows. NVM Found it Timer if 5:40 : Tebow-Burrow Heisman

Finebaum has always loathed LSU and LSU fans. During our 2019 run and he was almost forced to compliment the team,he looked like some pilot that had been captured and went on TV having to condemn his home country. Complete blank expression, "Yes, L S U has a good team. But lets talk about what Nick Saban is doing in Tuscaloosa!"

But the Freudian slip in the description is pretty funny (note LSU’s loss to Mike Leach and Mississippi State):

Since likely barely any of you watch ESPN videos on YouTube, you probably don’t know that ESPN has a terrible video team. By terrible I mean horrid.

-The titles sometimes are 10-20 seconds worth in a 3 minute video.

-When they show a short replay of a game several of the the plays and scores are shown out of order. Like you'll see the end of the game in some of them and then it'll switch to a play in the 3rd quarter.

-When they try to break down segments of a show, instead of taking just that segment, sometimes they run a minute of a previous segment leading into it.

-Sometimes the video will start with the title topic, but then it finishes up after a minute or 2 and like the last several minutes of the video is something completely different.

-Some of the descriptions have the wrong information like the wrong teams playing each other, the wrong scores, and the wrong winner. Seriously, it's like their video team is outsourced to another country.

Funny how the media demonizes BK for leaving ND, but is silent about Lincoln Riley doing the same thing.

There was a segment with Matt Barrie and Finebaum from Sunday, I'll try to hunt it down and link it but it was titled something like "Has Brian Kelly been humbled at LSU?" and Barrie carries on about how Kelly acted at ND and he's got this aw shucks thing going on at LSU and Finebaum said when he met him at ND, he thought he was one of the biggest clowns he'd ever met.

To me, that segment kind of pulled the curtain back on all of the media reaction to the hire and the treatment of he and LSU since that point. There's a grudge there and they're rooting for him to fail.

I watched this the other day, and your interpretation is way off.

Both are talking about how he has changed since coming to LSU and Paul states he realized it a couple years prior at ND. You can say what you want, but Kelly was seen bad light by the entire nation including LSU fans years ago. The red face, yelling in players' faces, the kid on the scaffold thing, etc.

He's talking humbled, as in, losing some of that sense of arrogance he had at ND. The "aw shucks" thing was being a little more loose, more carefree
