With the exception of Wingo, these are all unproven as SEC quality players.

Yes they are all unproven to this point but look at the potential
It is up to the DC scheme and coaching
I don’t totally rely on recruiting stars just looking at their mesurables and recruiting backgrounds

Our entire defense is garbage.

The talent we have makes me really miss Dave Aranda. Imagine Jefferson at NG, Smith and Wingo at DT. Then you have Penn, Perkins, Weeks, Speights to shuffle at LB. Swinson and Womack on the outside rushing. That would be a top-2 unit talent wise for Aranda if you compare it to his other defenses at LSU.

I’m not counting secondary.

And what team are you referring to again? Wingo & Perkins play for LSU.

The just have to start Jefferson over Smith because Smith just isn’t getting it done idk if it’s the injury but he’s not ready yet.

We lost a great d- line coach and his replacement had to take a leave of absence due to health reasons. In short we don’t have a position coach with any experience. I was as concerned about this as much as the secondary.

I mean, there’s a reason we lost him to a HC job. He’s a great coach.

I disagree with this. Maybe on the DL, but man we had a bunch of really good LBs under Aranda.

If you didnt know anythng about Maason Smith and just went off his play on the field this season, and nothing else, you would have to come to the conclusion that he is not very good and that Jordan Jefferson is way better. Jefferson looks like he is going to be a lot for any o-line to deal with going forward.

If you think this is the best front 7 you've ever seen then you must be 16 yrs old. We've had better. The talent is there but not great yet. Especially on the ends.

Oh bless your heart.

ETA : my favorite front 7
Chad Lavalais
Kyle Williams
Melvin Oliver
Marcus Spears
Marquise Hill
Lionel Tuner
Cameron Vaughn
Eric Alexander

I know it’s 8 but pick any 7 and it’s the nastiest in the history. There can be an argument for others, but they were sick. Gave up 11 points a game. That’s insane.

Now I’m looking into the whole defense..
Laron Landry
Corey Webster
Travis Daniels
Randall Gay
Ronnie Prude

Man we were stacked

LSU now has one of those Big 12 defenses. What i mean by that is your Offense better be dam good to out score the other offense or we lose.

According to the rant, its the injury.
That said, he should be in football shape for the bowl game.

The head coach just said that Womack wasn’t ready yet, but you want to start him.

That’s not true. Maason Smith is playing like an NFL prospect. He is handling a lot of double teams. The reason so many of you are down on Smith is that you had absurd expectations that he was going to be better than Wingo. I saw no reason to believe that.

He also said Smith wasn’t ready yet his arse sends him out there while Jefferson dominates every single time he is on the field.
I would trust a DLine coach’s opinion over our Oline’s. No offense to Kelly but he is blind if he can’t see the difference in explosiveness.

Smith needs to work back into shape but it can’t be playing all game.

As far as Womack, he just needs to play containment and set the edge.
