Also, as with other fall exhibitions from around the country, there will probably be no official scorekeeping. So no post game box score from LSU.

Mainieri said that Sunday’s game will be modified to allow the teams to best utilize their pitching staffs. Here are the specifications of which fans should be aware:
• The game will consist of 14 full innings – LSU is the home team and will bat in the bottom of the 14th, no matter the score
• Each half-inning will either consist of three outs or 20 pitches, whichever comes first … if a pitcher reaches the 20-pitch mark while an at-bat is still in progress, the at-bat will continue through its completion.
Fans should also take note of some new NCAA rules that will be in effect on Sunday and during the 2019 regular season:
• There will be exactly 120 seconds (2:00) between half-innings … the time will be kept on the clock in left-center field, and the clock will start immediately after the final out of a half-inning is made.
• As in Major League Baseball, pitchers will no longer have to throw four pitches for intentional walks … the batter will simply be instructed to advance to first base if he is to be intentionally walked.
• With runners on first and third, pitchers are no longer allowed to fake a pick-off move toward third base and throw to first base.
Also, as with other fall exhibitions from around the country, there will probably be no official scorekeeping. So no post game box score from LSU.

Why is this a good thing? Seems like they're taking out a pretty major play.

Seems like they're taking out a pretty useless play.

Sure, but it's always been a stupid rule IMO. If a lefty does this to first, it's a balk. If you fake a pickoff to third without a runner on first, it's also a balk. I have no idea why, when they were creating baseball, they decided that faking to third and throwing to first when there's a runner on first and third is not a balk.

In little league one year I fell for the 53 fake and got picked at 1st base. In my defense, it was because I wasn't good at baseball.

I could count on one hand the times I’ve seen that work in the past 20 years

I'm pretty sure LSU fell for it at least once this year.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

I thought the same thing. Maybe it wasn’t us but to me I remember it happening last season at some point

I will post a summary here similar to the scrimmage summaries, except longer due to 14 innings.

I may not say it in every thread, but I always appreciate it. I think your scrimmage threads are the only posts I bookmark on here.

Didn't Watson fall for it last year? I forget which game it was, but I remember that happening.

Bump for gameday.
A little bit of news about UNO and some players they lost who had eligibility remaining: Orynn Veillon grad-transferred back to ULL (he started his career there before going to LSUE and then UNO) and John Cable grad-transferred to Georgia. Veillon and Cable were some of their better hitters the last couple years. Cable medical redshirted last year though.
Kyle Arjona parlayed a good start to his summer collegiate season into a UDFA contract with the Phillies. He was an undrafted junior that decided to sign instead of returning to school.
As far as returnees go, Rafe Schindler had a really good summer on the mound. Throws low to mid 90s. Starting to gain some control. Could be an excellent reliever for the Privateers, but he should probably be given a chance to start.
I don't really know anything about any of their newcomers.
