I watched him a few years ago work with a pitching instructor going into his senior year. He was sitting 86-88 in September and by January he was sitting 91-92. It was amazing to see. Then his senior year he was 91-94. Then Freshman year he got up to upper 90s. It is true Nichols offered him when others didn't. Hard worker and good person.

Last year I believe someone was talking about how he was very early in his development compared to most. He didn’t play much travel ball or didn’t really start getting high level instruction until the end of his Hs career. That explains the jump in ability you are talking about.

Hopefully the pitching lab brings out the best in him and ramp up his development. He’s got all the tools.

Cam struck out 6 in 3.2 innings of sec play. And 13 ks in 9 total innings. Id say its incredibly likely he could strikeout more than mayer in 70 innings given the same level of competition

They have very similar strikeouts per inning.

A better argument is it would take Cam 2-3 years to get 70 innings.

It was a post designed to make conflict where there was none. You were picking a fight in anticipation of someone else picking a fight.

I asked about this guy earlier. The walks are disturbing but he has top of the line stuff.
I wonder where he is playing summer ball?
Time for Yeskie to earn his paycheck.

I really don't get the negativity. ERA is pretty impressive considering the walks. Imagine how much better he could be if he limited the walks even a little.

I think this is a great take but I worry about him if he is coming out of the pen only because you need guys to come into the game and throw strikes. You can't have a guy come into a 1 run game and walk the first 3 batters he sees while he dials it in.

Just my 2 cents. I am glad to have this guy and if we can get him to have just a little more control then I think he will be incredible for us. I mean his numbers show that he is almost unhittable. Just needs to throw strikes.

Process over results

And look, the southland isn’t a terrible league. But it’s not good, either. The SEC is in its own stratosphere in terms of strength. I don’t care how good his stuff is, it will be unforgiving if he doesn’t cut his walks in half (which would still be high).
