Not even close. You are a young buck if you believe that shite. Greatest RB won the Heisman and DIDNT have Faneca blocking for him. Go look at the productivity with 66.
I could make an argument that Jerry was better. What he did for those teams was remarkable only to get hosed and finish second for the Heisman. If I had to pick a back for a season with any reasonable coach besides Miles, it would be Fournette. I’ve never in my 60 years of following the Tigers saw a back dominate like that when everybody knew he was getting the ball. Charles Alexander had a absolute great Heisman like senior year and wasn’t Fournette.
Before you go PR, etc, look at Cannon’s stats for both sides of the ball.

I agree and maybe Charles Alexander second...but for college only...Jim Taylor was the best in the Pros...I don't reckon anyone remembers Jim Taylor or Steve Van Buren........

I stand by my opinion. We’ve had great RB’s for a hundred years, but Faulk out ran them all.
It’ll always be met with a few debates, but combining statistically & Athleticism, all around, he’s the best. That’s what makes sports debating fun though.
Not close to very best. You say this because you didn’t see people like Stovall who flat out dominated at LSU or Cannon who was unbelievable. Cannon wins hands down as a football player and RB. Take that offensive line away from Faulk with HoF Faneca and he isn’t the same back. Sorry. Hell, Fournette his last year and Charles Alexander did more with less. What helped Faulk was he had a mobile QB.

cecil was better than faulk. everyone knows this.

As far as versatility, running, receiving, blocking and special teams I think he definitely checked all then boxes as a plus player.
For me Hilliard did that too and I would add Hilliard was as good a blocking tailback as we ever had. I'd give Dalton a slight edge but that does not diminish Faulk at all - both were great all around backs, my 1 and 1A.
For one year, CEH 2019. Not sure we beat Bama if not for him turning something into nothing about 6 times at critical down and distances for us.

I actually think it was Cecil Collins
Cecil might be the best that could have been, be he isn’t the best
His 3 or so game run was just incredible. But that was it.

Even Faulk said Cecil was better than him. And he was. If by greatest, we're referring to production, then it has to be Faulk. If we're talking natural talent/ability, it's the Diesel. As amazing as Faulk was, Cecil could just do things Faulk couldn't. Amazing blend of power, speed, vision, instincts, acceleration, cut back ability. He could bull doze guys running inside, juke them in the open field, make the right cut at the right time, or beat guys to the edge if necessary.
Only Cecil could stop Cecil. Unfortunately, he did.

Could run, catch. block and return punts. His signing brought legitimacy back to the LSU program. In my opinion the greatest RB of all time at LSU. And he bought my house last year! Great guy to boot.

Relax.
Cannon was great, but how would you compare the defensive players he faced vs Faulk?
Fournette was special but he didn’t give us 3 full years. Though he probably faced even more athletic defenses than Faulk did, still.
Your argument isn’t really holding water, but I respect it.
You sound stuck in your ways and it’s all good.
I’m 41, so I’ve seen plenty good backs. It’s just an opinion, by the majority it seems, but it’s just an opinion.
Actually it’s a fact....
Kevin Faulk is the greatest all around back in LSU history.

I used to think this way too. But it was mainly due to 1 game at the time (the Auburn game) and now, mostly nostalgia. All those qualities you mention didn’t even translate to McNeese, much less the NFL. His short stint has allowed us to mythologize him, but if he hadn’t broken his leg and then had whatever legal problems plagued him in college (I can’t remember what happened when) and had had a normal career, he would have eventually come back down to the mean. He may still be considered a top 10 back—he was super talented—but I don’t think there’d be a big contingent still thinking him the GOAT.
I mean, even with the changing of football going more pass-happy, we’ve seen at least 5 games (off the top of my head) better than Cecil’s Auburn game since then. Alley Broussard and Fournette and Guice twice each.

Goes on to being an integral part of 3 Super Bowl winning Patriot teams.
He was the ultimate consummate pro that Belichick relishes.

meh, you play with the cards you're dealt, all three are great, deserve to be in the same conversation, and you can strongly argue the point for each of them

Will never forget that comeback. Glad I was in the house for that one.
