This will all change. If BAMA isn't winning championships, they aren't getting the viewers. This year was the start of that.

So sick of this idea.
Last season: 4 teams
This season: 12 teams.
FSU would have made it in a 12 team format or if they could muster any semblance of offense.

The future isn’t now, which is kind of the point.

I mean if we’re going to play that transitive property then Georgia State is better than Alabama.

I think if SMU is left out, the ACC and potentially big 12 would push to cancel their conference championship games because it’s in their best interest. Why make your top 2 teams play in a game that can potentially push one out the playoffs? Imagine if Ohio State was in the Big 10 title game tonight and lost to Oregon again, and that knocked them out the playoffs. Schools may just reject the invite to the game if they think it’s a risk to their playoff chances.

Head to head, were they better than Alabama with their backup last year? Absolutely not. It's why they were left out. Look how awful FSU looked against Louisville in the ACCCG. Alabama was a 5.5 point dog, and beat the #1 team at the time. Not even close.

I agree that it is complicated. You make a good point.

Florida st didn’t have a qb.
FSU played their backup QB in the ACCCG because the starter was out with a concussion. Everyone including the playoff committee knew he would be back for bowl season. This was just a convenient excuse to put Alabama in over FSU. The same Alabama team that needed an absolute miracle to beat a terrible Auburn team the week before.

SMU will be completely out of playoff picture. Seals spot for Alabama.

It’s not a popularity contest, it’s a playoff

And some of these people vote?
Posted on 12/8/24 at 8:06 am to TigerBR1111
SMU is out of picture because they need spot for Alabama. Book it. Money talks.
Posted on 12/8/24 at 8:22 am to TigerBR1111
The selection is five conference champion auto bids + Alabama + six highest ranked.
Posted on 12/8/24 at 8:25 am to TigerBR1111
It would be a terrible precedent to invite bama to the 12-team tournament. bama is one-win away from earning their invite.
Posted on 12/8/24 at 8:27 am to TigerBR1111
I still think the answer is, who do you think wins if Bama and SMU play for the last spot…
Posted on 12/8/24 at 8:29 am to TigerBR1111
Smu made the biggest bone headed play of the game last night when they failed to kick ball into the endzone....so weird. Would have been overtime most likely if they had done so

Watch
The best team SMU beat this year was a 7-5 team. I think it may have been the only team with a winning record. They will get Clemson and SMU in and neither belong. Hell, Ga and SC beat clemson...otherwise they are considered top of the overall with Oregon.
