Those were really fun times. A lot of good memories. You can criticize Dale Brown about being a bad Xs and Os coach, and he was, but he was an incredible motivator. He would go to the mat for his kids and they reciprocated on the floor. They always played hard.

The current issue with the MBB program is not necessarily CMMs fault. It emanates from Scott Woodward. Woodward does not say that MBB is a low priority at LSU but he shows that it's a low priority.

The most disappointing thing a bout Woodward is that he takes the easy way out in terms of business negotiations with money. He is not a fighter. He is not the type of person that will intentionally cause conflict to change the frame in negotiations. He fully demonstrated his Republican RINO tendencies during the CWW debacle.

Think for a moment, for example.

Sit down with Will Wade and tell him to come clean. Once you understand the full situation you can then set the parameters to publicly defend WW. It would have been amazing public fight to see Woodward with WW versus Pat Forde and Dick Vitale (and by extension the NCAA). And if the NCAA would have sanctioned LSU basketball, who cares? Seriously would the basketball program being sanctioned in '22, '23 and '24 would have been any worse than what we are experiencing right now under CMM?

The difference between not fighting for WW and fighting for WW (at the time) is earned political capital from the fan base. If Scott would have joined WW for the fight instead of cucking out to Pat Forde and Dick Vitale his political capital reservoir would have been full to the brim.

Lessoned learned: don't be a cuck.

If the women’s basketball team was 12-12, no one would ever talk about them.

Basketball since the 90s has been a bridge between football and baseball. No one actually thought basketball would win a championship. Make the tourney and hope for a deep run was about the best that could be hoped for. The surprise run to the final 4 in 06 was nice but overall basketball does not have a huge following. Might even be the 5th sport behind football, baseball, gymnastics, women basketball.

When I attended LSU (85 - 89), basketball was just as big as football. Final Four in 86, Elite Eight in 87. Those were the best basketball years by far. PMAC even held the first two rounds in 86.

That was my time too. The '80s were peak LSU basketball. There are not many LSU fans with that baseline.

Watching Shaq and company beat Arizona is by far my greatest game attended. It would have been Duke if we’d won.

not really. LSU sports is 95% football.

Yeah, Woody has done a fantastic overhaul of our Football program.

Cheer! Wait until next season. We're going to be great.

I agree this is so stupid and shows complete ignorance. The way I figure it people like this gave up on basketball in middle school when the black kid blocked his two handed set shot in to his face and he started crying for soccer. Pathetic losers.

LSU still has 3 of the top 4 highest attended regular season games in NCAA history.

LSU vs Notre Dame 1990 - 68,112
LSU vs. Georgetown 1989 - 66,144
LSU vs Texas 1992 - 61,304

Anybody who says that LSU basketball can’t be big is just wrong.

Basketball packed the PMAC plenty of times since the 90's. Brady Ball packed it night after night once we were done with the sanctions. Will Wade teams always packed the joint. Crazy comment.

Season ticket holder since 1986. It is so sad to see how far we have fallen, especially in a year when the SEC is arguably the best it has ever been.

There is no reason we cannot be competitive in this league every year. We have the wrong coach and are trapped with him because of the ridiculous buyout he was given. Bad move by Scott.

We will be battling for last place in the SEC on Feb.18 when we play S. Carolina.

Let that sink in.!!!

One of the most fun (and aggravating) losses was in Baton Rouge in the first round of the NIT. We lost to Tulane, but that game was loud and exciting.

Sitting in front of me were a husband in an LSU shirt and his wife in a Tulane shirt. Right after half-time, the husband turned to her and told he had to change seats or he was going to hit her. He went down and stood in an aisle to watch the rest of the loss.

Lsu was never a consistent contender but Dale Brown had LSU on the map in the 80s, the PMAC was rockin and was close to a title. Brady was wildly inconsistent but the sweet 16 and final 4 teams were really fun to watch. CWW had a top 40 program consistently for the first time since Dale. LSU was a contender from 79-87 and had some big moments after that period.

Is this team worse than that last Johnny Jones team that lost nearly every conference game it played in with Antonio Blakeny?

This year's team plays hard and has been in most games until the last few minutes( down less than 10) where a play or two could make it down to the wire.

In the current state, where is men's basketball status as far as fans interest? Is it more thah football? More than baseball? More than gymnastics? More than womens basketball?

I say the answer is no. I do understand there is a hardcore basketball fan base. All I'm saying is currently basketball is not a top 5 fan interest sport.

I went to football games over 40 years now. The smallest crowds were in the early 90s but there was still interest in the program from everyone. From 1995 thru now football has maintained high interest.

Basketball has only had that when the teams were good. That only shows the fans are fair weather. Football can be crappy but fans will still tailgate and show up on Saturday night.

Basketball was winning and going go the postseason. Football was not. College football as a whole was not big. Only games only TV were big games and LSU and SEC were not good.

I said since the 90s ( meaning mid 90s on), basketball was a good over sport until baseball arrived. Skip helped bring LSU to a powerhouse. The basketball teams were not as successful.

Then football started to gain more interest and college football had a huge spike nationally in the 2000s. The FF in 06 was good, but the interest faded.

I ask you with regards to the whole fan base of LSU as far as interest right now, how would you rank football, men's basketball, baseball, gymnastics, and women's basketball?
