They caved to media pressure. It was a report of a wiretap, not the actual wiretap. There was no need to do anything YET. If you think the NCAA eventually will go easy on LSU because of an early suspension, you’re dreaming.

Is Wade guilty? Almost definitely. But to do anything before due process runs its course is stupid and short-sighted, which is typical of the idiots that run LSU. When Kansas isn’t suspending Bill Self when he has incrimating texts against him aired in court, then why is LSU sitting Wade NOW?

LSU didn’t save themselves any NCAA investigation yesterday. If two months down the road proof is found that we paid a player, the sanctions are coming and they won’t go easy because we were cowards and suspended the coach with one regular season game left.

While I do agree, the situations are different as well. Chizik wasn’t on tape. In fact the taped conversation wasn’t even about Auburn, but MSU.

But that didn’t change the eligibility issues sCam was looking at.


But still, not allowing the situation to play out, especially when they’ve known about it all season, is just baffling.

For everyone saying well if Wade refuses to meet with his employers what are they supposed to do?? They shouldn’t have asked to talk to him to begin with.

Of course Wade can’t talk to them because then they could be subpoenaed to testify about that conversation. There is no employer/employee privilege that would protect that conversation.


You simply issue a statement saying “The LSU Athletic Department is aware of the ongoing investigation, as is the NCAA. We are in contact and cooperating with the NCAA as we have been all season while the investigation continues and will take any necessary action once all information is available.”

PERIOD.

It was a boneheaded miscalculation to even propose a meeting, and just more proof of the utter incompetence and lack of understanding and damage control that this AD displays every time the spotlight points in his direction.

What’s does suspending him NOW accomplish?

There is no ongoing NCAA investigation. He has not testified in any trial. The wiretaps that ostensibly form the basis for this suspension were known of BEFORE the season started. Yet, Joe and Co. either deemed it unnecessary to investigate further or had no reason suspend Wade then.

If NCAA violations are found to have been committed then this season will be vacated anyway. What is self-imposing a 1 to 5-6 game ban at the end accomplish other than to publicly send the message that you think your coach is guilty...despite apparently knowing no actual information other than what has been reported? The time to suspend (if they wanted to suspend) was Oct. not now. Whatever damage there is is done. Why tank the season at the end when it for all practical purposes accomplishes nothing other than tanking the season? What is the NCAA going to do? “Vacate” the 18-19 season AND take away LSU’s 2006 Final Four appearance as an additional punishment? This is nothing more than spineless Joe and F. King reacting to negative media coverage. Just like Joe did at Duke (and LSU STILL hired this idiot!!)

Dispite what they may say (or not say, actually) LSU has already made the decision to fire Wade (whether that is right or wrong will be decided later). This is an effort to set up a “for cause” termination. The “cause” would still be there in April.

Unfortunately, this is just another example of these two dip shite LSU making LSU’s athletic dept. look like amateur hour:

Hiring a basketball coach no one else wanted (Jones)
Miles saga in 2015.
Triumphantly rushing to the podium to hire a HC that had ZERO demand after a 3 month “search”
Hurricane Matthew
A useless suspension at the end of the season.

I’m not defending Wade here. Just pointing out that LSU’s administration is a complete embarrassment. And that’s not just on the athletics side.

Sean Miller still holding his job at Arizona should tell you enough. LSU admins and Alleva are spineless. Throwing your coach under the bus amongst this little round of scrutiny is a bitch move and the transcript actually proves NOTHING.. let the trial wade it out in due course and keep your damn best coach on campus until then.
