Football Lineman with Knee Braces

I don’t know if this has been mentioned yet, but I find it awesome that Kelly is requiring all OL and DL to wear knee braces on both knees. Not sure if they will be required during the season but smart move by Kelly to keep the knees protected during practice. Decrease the risks of last season’s issues, the little details.

Ounce of prevention for injuries and leaded-arse’d-malingerers!!!

I wonder why that was not a requirement before.

Cause our previous HBC was worried about poontang and gumbo

Our HS OL wore braces depending on the side:
Left Side: L Knee
Right Side: R Knee
Center: Both Knees
Left Side: L Knee
Right Side: R Knee
Center: Both Knees

Cannot agree more
And also giggle at the mindset when it impresses that “the details” includes your linemen’s knees and interviewing DCs.

Most people don’t know this, but it’s a fact: Glenn Dorsey wore leg braces before he became a lineman.

I feel like all o linemen have been wearing knee braces for a while now.

Every athlete on a football scholarship should account for everything, down to the type of toothpaste they use.
Build a championship program with a championship attitude.
No Joe Burrow, no NC
They won in 2019 with generational talent.

Nope. Not unless they had a previous or ongoing injury.

If I remember correctly. At one point someone came out with a “study” that O latched onto noting that braces didn’t prevent injury and might actually cause more. But we all see how that worked out by the litany of triage tents we had by the end of the season.

Coach O said knee braces are for pussies. His baw Landry down at the bait shop provided the study

Pretty sure that's always been up to the position coach before.

Pretty sure offensive linemen wore braces when Saban was HC

Only because it probably was too expensive to provide braces for both side. Statistics don't necessarily bear out need for only outside lef.

Yet, that is where our program is.

Many programs require all O line guys to wear them. I know Donjoy supplied U of Colorado back in 2003 and probably for a couple years before. The Denver Ortho folks published some papers on it and how there was a massive improvement in knee injuries (no surprise) if memory serves correct. There’s bound to be some ortho guys on this board to weigh in.

Interior linemen have been wearing them for years on both knees. I know in HS our OL wore them and that was late 90’s. Unbelievable and downright stupid that O wasn’t requiring them.
