Follow the money...or in this case ESPN

I've read hundreds of messages here on the LSU vs SEC deal and only a few briefly mention ESPN's contract with the SEC which is worth several million $. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the ESPN room right now (not the hosts opinions which I know but the actual bean counters). I feel pretty confident in saying that the biggest fish in college football is not LSU nor the SEC nor the Big 10 and certainly not the NCAA. It is ESPN which is the golden goose for money that the SEC gets. If anyone sees any quotes by that network on this mess, I would surely like to read them. IMO, ESPN holds the veto power over everybody.

And can ask SEC to sack Sankey and move on

Yeah, Disney and ESPN aren’t just sitting around waiting to see what happens. I can guarantee you that calls have been made.

100%
Disney told the SEC that kicking LsU out wasn’t an option.
They probably also told LsU to fill the spots so this can go away.
Everyone will listen.

Yep. Always follow the money.

ESPN made an announcement as soon as this broke that LSU would not be voted out.

If ESPN wants to be the adult in the room, that's probably best, at this point we all need a relatively unbiased arbitrator. That being said, I am not sure that Sankey will make it out of this.

Disney has LSU on in primetime on ABC in a week and a half. They are not going to sit around to find out.

exactly and they also just threw us a huge PR party this last weekend. And they loved it.

Every great story needs a villain.
And ESPN wants a great story to sell.

That’s my thought as well. He made it personal which is a no no in a position like that. He also brought a lot of unnecessary negative press to the school and conference and showed each school the SEC will turn on you if you don’t fall in line and quickly.

Sankey has made mistakes on what seems to be impulsive behavior. You don't do this as a person in his position, you prepare; yet while he was on stand he was quoted as "not having read the 5 for 5" and "couldn't define a professional player". Damn.
