However, I truly kinda feel bad for him. He’s got this “character” or “persona” that, while I do believe is mostly genuine, has to be downright exhausting and miserable to maintain (think of the Whiskey and Wine shows). That’s kinda his schtick and listeners want to see him in that element. It’s gotta be demoralizing to always be “on” and “in character.”
I remember like a year ago T-Bob went on this huge rant about how he hates his life because he doesn’t do anything meaningful and the masses see him (in his words) as a “fat drunk dancing idiot”. I think this was a Monday after W&W which makes sense Hopefully he can make some good stuff at Barstool and not be another southern idiot existing solely to ridicule a la Ben Mintz.

This will be fun for a sec, then will be a a constant run of “back when I played in the nfl…”
Which will still be 1000 X better than T-Bob

Can’t think of a least desirable person seeing how he speaks less about sports than T-Bob. I know I will get hammered but I would rather have one of the fill-ins.

Man, I remember exactly what you're talking about - and that was somewhat the point of my original post. I think a lot of his "radio persona" is true to form, but it may embellished some. That said, he's viewed as this jolly, loud, boisterous, drunken caricature ... when people see T Bob, that's what they expect and/or want to see. That's what I meant by the feeling somewhat bad for him. I don't know him personally, and I don't think that's true (the perception of him). I found him to be pretty funny, engaging, well rounded and sharp.

It had to be exhausting in BR where everyone knows everyone and having to maintain or keep that identity up. I'm not implying that it's "fake," maybe it's just exaggerated a little. Maybe it'll die down some in Chicago where his connections won't be as extensive.

That said, I'm happy for him and this is not a lateral move. This is a move you have to take the shot. If it doesn't work out or if he hates it, he at least took the chance. Sucks for me because I've tried listening to Barstool in the past and it just wasn't for me. The major stations...I just can't get into. I need more "LSU" or "Louisiana" specific talk. I'll miss him on 104.5 and with Mascona on Whiskey and Wine.

I mean this in the most positive way I can, but if you knew T-Bob in person you would know there is absolutely no schtick to him. He is a great, genuine human and what you see is him. He’s not for everyone, but who is?

See the bolded parts of my original post, below, and see my post immediately above this one.

T Bob is pretty polarizing. I’m a fan of him as he brings more broader entertainment to the shows as I’m not solely interested in sports talk breaking down Xs and 0s, 11 personnel, etc. That said, I understand how and why people feel he’s aggravating.

I know who Matt Flynn is, and I know from time to time he has guested on 104.5 shows with Hester. I’ve just never heard him on a radio show. That was my point. He’ll still be better than Hebert.

This is how I feel too. I like his random rants and takes on OTB. always watched Whiskey and Wine after games. But he could be annoying sometimes too

This won't last long. Flynn is usually late and always unprepared. He thinks it's funny how little he knows about what's going on in the sports world.

Little late here but what’s the rants thoughts on Flynn?

He’s an LSU legend and a noted Texan. Much in common with many of the the fan base.
