Michigan lost to 10-16 Penn State two games ago lol.

So are they out now too? (See how that works?)

Man this elite group is hard to get into.

I agree with everything but this team is also only 4 points away from being undefeated in conference. A team that’s been great at the free throw line and was 57% in regulation against Florida and missed a few late against Arkansas that would’ve won the game.

This is a very good team and I think they could be a top 10. But they have to come out and play better in the first half and in the beginning of the 2nd half.

The SEC is good but man they should not be squeaking wins out in OT with so many conference teams.

Now I think it is great that they have confidence that they can usually pull it out in tight games but it seems like they are content with letting games come down to the wire. It takes just one guy getting hot on the other team to take you out when this happens. It happened with Ark and UF.

Keep it in perspective though and understand that this is a good team. We have 2 conf losses, which yes we should've won and we beat UK. Also last night Waters did little scoring and was off. But the big boys inside stepped up. That is a very nice luxury to have

I've been puzzled by this for weeks. LSU seems to like starting a game by having the opponent come out more aggressive, instead of LSU coming out and attacking.

It says something about how good the team is, that they consistently allow opponents to take early leads and still have only 2 conference losses. Imagine the record if they came out inspired from the tip.

Edit: I have to qualify this because LSU has come out on fire, like in the Miss St game, then went to sleep and allowed a 17 point run by State and were down 8 at the half. So technically they have been hustling at the start of some games, then lost that edge, then regained it in the 2nd half.

I think you have to get use to being good. This is only the first year - the wake-up year. Hang in there. It's a process. Next year, they will really shine.

Losing to a top 10 rival without their best player is exactly the same as losing to a 14-11 Florida team.

The Duke loss is a terrible comparison. Duke lost the #1 draft pick within the first 30 seconds of the game.

LSU seems to be content to let games come down to the wire, whether LSU pulls out and lets the opp come back to them or LSU falls behind and comes back in the end. They need to learn to come out and be aggressive at the start of the 1st and 2nd halfs and finish opps off.

The point was that every team in the country has issues. Nobody plays perfect 100% of the time, even the top elite teams.

I just don't buy using a close road conference win (At UGA) as something to criticize the team.

All in all, LSU has had an outstanding year and has far exceeded most expectations at this point in the season. I'm not going to be overly critical about close wins. People who do that conveniently never bring up the close losses as hypotheticals as it doesn't fit their narrative.

The subject of this thread is just stupid. LSU was never "flirting with disaster". They've had some close games. Basketball games are generally pretty close, especially wins on the road.

We have to learn haw to play the whole game & not just the second half. It cost us last night. The season is not over but we have a long way to go.

This could be a wake up call.

I personally don't think this is a final 4 team, I'm just going to enjoy the ride as far as it goes. The issues should have been fixed, if they are fixable.

How does that compare to the other top teams in the SEC and ACC?

Only 1 miraculous comeback (Missouri)
We've had a lot more games where we gave up big leads

I love how LSU "fans" discredit their own teams
By now your team is what your record says it is
We are also mere points away from being undefeated in conf play and having 2 more wins over top 15 teams in FSU, and Houston

Oh you want a complete game? Just the goal of every team in the country and rarely obtained.

We've been in close games at halftime in almost every game recently. It's hard to blow out a team in one half. It's not like we are getting killed in the first half every game.

You don't know college basketball if you think this team has flirted with disaster.

Look at Tenn. vs. Vandy in both games year. More close games than you can imagine.

Did you bother to look? No you didn’t or you wouldn’t have posted that. It was also posted on the first page of this thread.

Tennessee has won 9 conference games by 10+ and UK 7.

They also haven’t consistently struggled to beat terrible teams.

Oh STFU. I never discredited them, I just stated the reality. This is a VERY good team, but they aren’t elite yet. They’ve won one NCAA tournament game in two appearances since 2006. Calm your feathers and enjoy the damned ride.
