Downvote all you want but this day was always coming to support revenue share and escalating salaries.

Yep. Now that theyre rev sharing with players, they were always going to find ways to off set that and find new sources to cover what was lost. Theyre doing field ads and jersey patches but the most obvious and significant revenue source that they dont have to do anything for is selling name rights. Tiger Stadium being rhe most valuable but I'd expect the Box and PMAC to be sold too. Millions of "free" dollars sitting there each year.

Big time soccer teams have huge sponsorship ads on their uniforms and it’s not terrible.

I agree but soccer also shows way fewer ads during games. It's annoying to be watching a game that's got 2 and a half hours of commercials and now you'll have ads on the jerseys, helmets, field, etc. on top of that. It's like a football game breaks up the commercials now and not the other way around.

how are we 8 million in the hole? Doesn't the athletic budget go over like 200 million a year?

This. And doesn't the athletic department "donate" millions back to the school each year to keep the university in the black? If the AD is 8 mill in the hole, what about the school itself?

Can someone fill me in on how the football program is now loosing money? Is it tied to the NIL payments to players?

I hate that MLB has advertising on their jerseys. This needs to stop.

Yes they bring in around $200 million, but they also spend a ton. In fact, if it weren't for donations, the AD would lose money every year.

For example, there is a line item in the 2024 AD financial report called "Creative services and content". That line item shows $10,500 in revenue. For expenses, it shows $2,128,401 for salaries and wages, $704,390 for related benefits, $189,778 for supplies & expenses, and $38,415 for travel. So for that year the line item "Creative services and content" (whatever that all includes) lost $3,078,917. We also spent $27,333,089 on "buildings and grounds" that year.

There were 7 total line items out of 34 on the financial report that didn't lose money. They were athletic administration, marketing, football, men's basketball, concessions, merchandise, and sports productions.

Crazy baseball lost a mil. You can't turn a profit in baseball if Lsu isn't.

Problem solved.

I’m 100% out if this comes to pass. I’ve basically mostly checked out due to apathy but this will drive me over the edge. I hate how commercialized college sports has become. It’s unrecognizable.

At this point, these things don't even bother me anymore.

At this point, I would rather that than another substantial increase to my tickets.

If you don’t actually attend LSU games, I could see how you would hate my stance.

Just wait until LSU requires purchasing a permit to tailgate.

Sounds like you got that backwards… who cares if it’s “so and so”‘Tiger stadium. “

You’ll only hear it about 4 times per broadcast… most will just say Tiger stadium

Losing money? Maybe they need to hire an accountant. Or an auditor. Something doesn’t smell right and it’s only going to get worse with these paid mercenaries.

Its going to be an impressive feat when Raising Canes finds a way to shrink the stadium over the years.

This would actually be the rare good case of shrinkage... Tiger Stadium is too big except for like 1 or 2 games out of the season.
