There were 8 lead changes in just the second half. Neither team was dominated. It was, aside from the referees, a perfect game (depending on which side you supported).

Their first TD drive they called us for that tip of the pinky facemask while Bryce was surrounded by 4 tigers and giving himslef up. And it was 3rd and 10.

And Ojulari clearly grabbed his face mask. There was also a holding on the defense they called on that play also that would have given Bama a first down so that doesn’t even matter.

Their 2nd TD was that weird cluster play where the whole D line had a swipe at Bryce and Harold perkins was being severely held and then he popped it out to a wide open WR. Also 3rd and 10.

I’ll give you this one but it’s not like it’s out of the ordinary for these calls to be missed. Calls, especially holding, gets missed all the time for both teams.

quote:

But it wasnt even pass interference! THe guy fell down cuz the ball was thrown behind him. That was also 3rd down.

Tipped or not Sage Ryan held the guy from the moment he got to him. It was 100 percent pass interference.

From TV... Young was never comfortable all game but made a few plays but the two biggest passing plays they had seemed to be from LSU mental mistakes and not like Bama making bug time throws.

Bama had more yards than LSU but it didn't feel that way.

Seemed a lot like that from my perspective too. Their scoring drives came from big plays that set them up in the redzone & the breakdown for the 41 yard TD that should have been a sack if Perkins wasn't completely raped on the play. They rarely drove the complete field on us to score without a big play or help.

I went off in my friends group about this.. This is the exact type of call that would get called against LSU yet would never be called against bama on a game changing play. Same thing happened, I forget what year, but one screen shot had 4 bama players holding with no call.

Holding Perkins, Arm EXTENDED

He is not only holding him... he is holding him on the back side of his shoulder pads.

“Dominated” is a strong word. I won’t go that far because I don’t think we had a dominant performance, however I feel like the tide changed Saturday night because while we did not dominate them, I definitely felt like we were half a step ahead on everything else. We didn’t let them dictate the game to us, we took it to them and they never had a final answer for that. I haven’t seen that in a Bama game in a long, long time

Probably has to do with the fact that our drives were sustained and longer

Their successful drives for the most part had huge chunk plays, leading to more overall yards and less time of possession and leading us to win time of possession.

I say this with sincerity, but I think we’re so used to Bama pushing us around that when we actually play them evenly it feels like domination

I thought overall it was a really even game. Our defense was fantastic in the first half. Bama’s successful drives seemed more a result of big plays (and some assistance from the zebras) whereas we had more methodical, under control drives.

Bama had 6 sacks and plenty more hurries, but the difference was Daniels’ mobility and being able to run the ball consistently.

Can’t wait until BK gets all his big uglies in these next couple recruiting classes and we start protecting the QB.

Bama drove into scoring position on 7 possessions in regulation compared to only 4 for LSU. That’s definitely not domination on LSU’s part. LSU won the game by performing better in the red zone on both sides of the ball. The INT in the end zone and 3 FGs on Alabama’s first four scoring opportunities allowed LSU to stay in it while they were waiting for the offense to get going.

Simple way of explaining this games results.
We beat Bama, Bama did not beat Bama.
This is why it feels so damn good.

Except when the ball is tipped it’s not PI and ball was clearly tipped

Before that pick in the endzone it looked like it was going to be a long arse day. That one play changed everything in my opinion.

Amen brother.

A single point victory in overtime is not a sign of dominance.

I was pissed off watching the first half because it felt like LSU controlled the game and the field position. YET, they only had 7 points. IMO, Denbrock was calling a "scared" game rather than truly trying to attack and I was worried he was wasting the defensive effort LSU was putting forth. It felt like the game should have been 14-3 or 17-3 given LSU seemed to control the first half. Contrast that with LSU's offensive approach in 2019 where, after forcing a turnover on what looked like a scoring drive for Alabama, LSU immediately went on the attack with the play calling. It was fast. A little bit risky. But when Chase grabbed the TD it seemed to send a message of "We ain't scared of you and we are here to kick your arse!"

we both got penalties called. But ours seemed to just tack on 10 yards to the end of a good play on first down. Bama got a free 10 yds and a fresh set of downs after going 3 and out in pivotal moments in the game.

That's how the refs put their fingers on the scale while still being able to say "but we called it evenly".

their points were directly assisted by the refs.
I felt the opposite. LSU had a few drives where if not for penalties called the game would have had completely different result. A few drives with a couple shitty throws then all of a sudden a penalty is called to keep the drive going.

Not to say Bama didn’t get calls too but this game was not dominated by anyone.

That game was pretty much dead even - as the final score indicated....nobody "dominated" anyone....

This.

Total yards --- Bama 465, LSU 367

Even taking out McClelland's long run they still outgained us.

And shoot, I dont think it was them just wanting bama to win. It's the sec wanting to protect its stock and having as many highly ranked teams as possible. We already had 2 losses and bama is bama.
