The lazy answer is gonna be “cuz BLM”.

Honestly though, I think physical traits are easier to see at practice than intangibles so TJ got the first nod. He then played well enough in his first start that it was hard to bench him. I also think TJ got one extra start cuz they didn’t want Max’s first start to be against Bama. It would be throwing him to the wolves.

I definitely think we have the talent to win a natty no question. But a few things have to fall in place:
1. Elite QB play
2. Somebody has to really step up at RB
3. We have to establish a solid second receiving target behind Boutte
4. The defense limits big plays
5. The O-Line stays healthy

Excited for the season. Geaux Tigers!

Emery is used plenty, he just can’t stay healthy.

If people are expecting Max or Miles to be Burrow they are going to be upset. If we had 3 first rounders and a second round guy at RB/WR we would be a huge threat to win it all, but we don’t. Boutte is the only guy close to those guys. Could some of the new guys surprise us, sure, but it took Chase, Jefferson, Marshall all at least one year in college to become superstars.

He got COVID and couldn't practice. TJ had the good SC game.

I will iterate once again that if we had this same convo in July of 2019, idiots like you would have also said that we didn’t have 3 first rounders and a second rounder at WR/RB.

Hell half the board wanted Clyde replaced and no one knew that our WRs were gonna blow up like they did.

National Title????? Two years ago we just happen to have the perfect QB

And I’m assuming you believe Mauck, Flynn and Perrilloux were also perfect qb’s?

I had '21 circled since before the '19 season as a potential banner year. Of course at that time I was expecting Brennan to have a full season under his built, Emery to be a household name, Rosenthal and Marcel Brooks to still be on roster, Aranda and Brady to still be around, among others.

The potential is still there though.

We sure have a lot of returning production and starters. We have alot of talent, that's never a question. I think we will be very good. We will see how it plays out.

I’d feel a lot better if we had Gilbert coming back. Hope a WR steps up quick.
