No Braswell? Gold team looks like potential starting group of he's in there for Nippolt and White subs in for Guidry. Makes sense why Johnson gave up some hits - That's a gauntlet of a lineup.

Something I hope we see more of.

Primeaux's top velo last week was 94mph, he hit 95mph with one pitch I saw today.

Yep. Primeaux hit 94 several times. 95 once from what I recall.

Not much stood out to me today. Some quality 2 strike, RBI, AB's by Frey, and Travinski today. I think they were off of Loer who couldn't put them away.

Cam got roughed up a bit one inning and had to work.

Mitchell stole 3 bases.

Neal probably had the best deep ball hit today, as he bounced one against the wall in deep left center over the CF's head. Got it up into the wind.

The listed mph is the top speed pitch, DJ didn’t live at 95. He just juiced one and hit that. He lived at 91-93 with the fastball but worked his pitches and speed well imo.

I think we will see a bunch of guys play early and fans may be surprised. It looks to me like guys are going to have to hit to be on the field. This will make for some early season movement with the lineup if someone isn’t making consistent contact and doing a job.
There is some young talent on this roster.
It would be great if we had an infielder step up and solidify that second base spot due to their bat. Going to be interesting.

What the thought on Guidry? Pitcher only, play in the infield or both?

Way too early to say definitively but fall reports to date show its Braswells job to lose at SS. Guidry has not flashed yet in the INF nor at the plate. Milam was a bet for 2B but not stepping up either. Personally I hope Pearson can stick there because it allows us to maximize offense.

I wonder if Guidry will stick around if he doesn't earn an infield spot.

Guidry played 3rd today and fielded it well. Also had a nice line drive single to left in his first AB.

That said...that is White's spot.

Yeah, third base is closed for business. It's placeholders in the fall. I'm sure second base is very very far away from being closed. Just curious how he would view being strictly a pitcher at LSU if that's what it came down to.

Exactly! This one move sets the lineup VERY NICELY with Bingham, Kling and Frey across the OF, and White, Braswell, Pearson and Jones in the INF. Travinski/Neal work the C/DH position. Mitchell also looks to be competing for PT. Lot of potential in that lineup.

There is still no clear cut backup SS which is not super concerning right now, but definitely something you want locked down in the next session.

Guidry just hasn't hit (.173/.344/.261). He has stuck out 12 times in 23 AB's.

That being said I think he is probably the best candidate to be SS2. Nippolt and Kucherak both look like they can make routine plays but neither of them have any type of range.

Nippolt could be your 2B tho...i guess....if not one else steals that job. It does seem like they are serious about seeing if they can squeeze on of the OF's there, sacrificing offense for def. Something that worked last season with Dugas.

I haven't seen enough chances to gauge Kucherak's range yet. He is very smooth at SS and has good middle infielder actions.

Milam has really good middle infielder actions as well.

Dugas was a MIF his entire life, he shifted to the OF when he got to
LSU. You act like it was a stretch for him to play there

He also played 2B his freshman year.

He’s taking about the sacrificing defense for Dugas’ bat. Dugas was not a good defender.

Took a look at some cumulative hitting stats from Scuba's reports.

Braswell is 9/30 or .300

Bingham is 8/31 or .258

Jake Brown is 9/27 or .333 (Did not expect him to get this many AB's but he is certainly taking advantage of it)

He went from being adequate to being a pretty big liability after his injury.
