Great call with bad execution. No more, no less.

Didn't go for it on fourth against ND, gets crucified for no balls.
Goes for it against a very winnable and VERY momentous and important game against conference and division rival when we need momentum and inside their territory, gets crucified for going for it. It don't make no sense.
Good call, and good execution until punter isn't a QB.

I've been in the nega-0 camp, but that was a good evaluation and call. Just very poor execution by Zach Von Sticktopuntingberg.

The reason for running it was because it was Auburn. 10 point underdog and Offense was stalled. Les was very successful catching teams off guard to give an edge. Tigers loaded with talent but very inexperienced. Receiver was wide open just over threw him. If it works they are geniuses.

quote:yeah and every one of you guys being negative about it would have had O in the fake hall of fame ahead of Les if he had pulled it off...... it was a great attempt. WE COMIN!
That Fake Punt should never be tried again!! They shouldnt have done it especially at Auburn!!

Also, a TE should not be backpedaling for a pass. Moreau judged that ball badly.

One person said it was a bad call. You guys get really insecure about Ed. I liked the call, just need to practice throwing that ball a bit more.

it should have been called off when they saw Auburn in punt safe but even still it almost worked.
Stop regurgitating the nonsense you hear from announcers. These are the same idiots that said the clock would have expired in 2007 if Demetrius Byrd didn't catch the TD from Flynn.
The fake punt was a good call and the play was open. The punter (a former pitcher and QB) just didn't execute.

It looked like a good call to me. It aaleo let's folks know to stay alert. Plays like that affect the special teams of your opponents.

No...this was not an anti-/pro Ed thing. This was about a particular trick play, which could be a point made in an overall discussion about the head coach but which was not here that I'm aware of. And yes one person said it, which is why I pointed out the discrepancy to the person I responded to. I also liked the call.

A good pass and it works. Designed to beat 'punt safe'.

I liked the call, didn't like the pass. He should have stopped running, hesitated, then threw and it is a TD or he could have run it himself, it was wide open. The guy was a pitcher and QB, they should have let him throw a normal pass, his momentum killed it.

I have no problem with this call vs the ultra-conservative BS we've been seeing for years.
Remember when Les called a fake punt at Ariz St? What happened to that guy?

On my list of Top 10 Things Great Teams Do, consistently running surprise/fake plays is in the top 5, assuming the risk is manageable.
It really plays hell on an opposing team’s game planning having to account for a team that does so if they’ve done it consistently enough to pose a threat. They need to do it more.

No one ever ask that when it works.
