hopefully it changes
but with Hilton, Parker, and Emery all out, you've basically lost most of your explosive players with experience.

Nuss is 57/76 610 yards 8 TD 1 INT
It's literally just the run game that is not explosive lol

Come on. At least bring some facts.
Hilton should be back this weekend. He practiced some last week and was held out.
Parker is more of a route runner and great hands guy than a burner like Hilton.
Anderson and Thomas both have plenty of speed. They just need to pop one for either in space, but both have already had some nice passes and jet sweeps.
Johnson is a flat-out home run threat, possibly more than probably anyone else on this list from a pure athleticism standpoint. They just need to get him up to speed enough to play more than 2 or 3 snaps and get him in space at the edge.
I understand that Nuss needs to settle the nerves and hit some deep shots, but it’s not like we’ve never seen him do that before. We all know he has that in him.

What are you talking about? Nuss throws for over 300 each game.
It’s the run game that’s killing them.

We won't be explosive until we develop an effective running game. Now the opponents play two deep safeties because they don't have to come up to stop the run. No body can just run by them.

It seems like the tempo is the issue.

get the run game going and you can get more explosive play action.

I'll keep saying it, I want Hilton to be great. But I am also a realist. Hilton only has like 7 catches in 4 years being on campus. I'm not crowning him jackshit until he proves that he is a guy that we can depend on. Our offense needs to continue to find balance to what it is that we are doing.
We aren't explosive because Kaleb hasn't grown a pair yet. He needs to be the one who we look at to set the tone. Also, our IOL needs to get nastier. Been getting pushed around too much for my liking.

LSU is #30 in the country in yards per play. The offense doesn't have the pop that it did last year, but that's to be expected.
They need to hit on more explosive plays, as there is a direct correlation between them and winning.
The issue is that LSU is going to see a lot of two-high safety and corner players playing soft due to the non-existent running game. It's going to be tough getting on top of those types of defensive looks.
South Carolina's front four has generated a lot of pressure. It will be a take what they give you type of game again.

There isn't really any reason other than scheme for the passing game to not be explosive. CJ Daniels led the nation in yards per route run last year.
For some reason LSU can't hit anything over the top. I think it's scheme related, with the routes and defensive positioning; as the defense is keeping everything underneath and LSU either doesn't have receivers running there or Nuss won't throw to the middle of the field.
Waiting for SEC Stat Cat to post the passing chart for Nicholls to see if Nuss completed anything in that 10+ yard middle of the field area.

It’s one thing to be a moron. It’s another thing to open your mouth and remove all doubt

Sampson got significant snaps this week. Not sure what his speed is. Nuss targeted him with a hole shot but SS let the CB route him OOB but he caught it. Nice length.
Watkins got some snaps in late but no targets. Probably fastest dude in CFB right now with a 10.2 100M in Tx State HS championship. Not expecting to see a lot of him this season.

A very significant part of the offense no?

I feel like we get tackled immediately on most passing plays. Nuss’ numbers would be off the charts if we were hitting more guys in space on passing routes. Run game has been old school 3 yrds cloud of dust more than anything. Again I do think Nuss has been good, we just aren’t getting these receivers the ball with room to make plays as much as we did in those Heisman years.

IDK how much strategy changes it would entail buy IMO, a large piece of our offense should try to get Johnson, Anderson, and Thomas the ball in space.

Hilton is going to have a huge year if he stays healthy. Just watch.

They don't give Kaleb Jackson enough carries to do anything. They don't trust him like they trust Josh Williams.

Nuss isn’t throwing across the middle of the field because the coaches refuse to call any pass plays across the middle. I promise you it’s not because Nuss is scared to throw over the middle. It’s because Kelly and Sloan are scared to death he’s gonna try to fit it in tight windows and get it picked off. But you can’t coach scared or we won’t win many games against good competition.

I'm concerned about the lack of a deep ball threat but hopefully it improves as the season goes along.
Nuss has a good Stat line so far but maybe if somebody has the numbers I'd like to know what they are on attempts/completions for throws over 20 yards. Take the top off a few times and the run game should improve as well.

Nuss is leading the country in TDs according to BK and only has 1 INT that was on a hail mary. We are fine.
