You mean the students do something other than look at their cell phones then turn on the flashlight to make the stadium light up while the opponent is on a scoring drive instead of making noise?
Been 16 years since I have been a student and going to games every year, so far this is by far the worst student section in memory.

I've noticed watching from home that the microphones barely pick up the Tiger band and very faintly at that.
Not long ago you could hear the band well watching on TV. I'm guessing this shift has something to do with students shouting things the FCC doesn't allow on television.
