re: Explanation for “Piped-In Music”

The music comes in through that ljttle exposed PVC pipe you can see on the exterior of the stadium. Makes it sound like shite.

It's real simple, have added music during TV timeouts, which unfortunately last forever and are too frequent. Let the crowd enjoy TGBFL during live action and pipe in Tiger Band music when they are entering/exiting the field.

Piped in music is totally appropriate before pregame festivities and post game final celebration. Example Calling BR, and Eye of the Tiger.

One argument to prove that TGBFL is the primary source of entertainment and that you use piped in music as filler around it is the pregame show with the band and Alma Mater and National Anthem. You wouldn't eliminate this for piped in music.

Last point, this isn't an NFL venue where a college game is renting space. People who attend campus games don't need/want the NFL atmosphere otherwise this thread would be completely the opposite.

This piped in music is another example of the decline of the sport. All schools are doing it. I think the programs are getting money to do it. And in the NIL era nobody is gonna turn down extra revenue like that.

Went to a game for the first time in 5 years in ‘24 and I felt like I was at nightclub rather than a CFB game. Only music I wanna hear is the band.

At least the baseball games are still traditional.

Every stadium plays piped music. Our fans are traditionalists who aren't interested in change. If you asked them what their idea of a perfect atmosphere would be, they would suggest playing Garth Brooks and "Louisiana Saturday Night" on the loudspeakers, along with a band performing "Neck."

After Woodward was fired the rap music full blast over the PA system diminished. The band gets to play now. Woody’s last game it was a night club astosphere i am certain the band director had major complaints. Plus the volume of the music was reduced. Gordy has zero to do with the music in tiger stadium.

I can guarantee you some pencil pusher is calculating how much money is spent on the marching band, and how much money those stadium seats are "really" costing. They're going to use how often they play music in game as a statistic. I'd say less than 10 years from now there won't be a band in the stadium. I'm a traditionalist and hate the DJ and nightclub atmosphere, but I can see the writing on the wall.

it seemed to have really gotten bad under miles around 2010. we heard plenty band during the game under saban and early miles if i recall corrrectly.

yes all people want to hear is pre-game/TD for LSU-geaux tigers and the 2nd and 3rd down cheers plus chinese bandits on 4th.

throw in some tiger rag-hey fightin tigers-etc and most would be fine.

gave up my season tix during covid but sounds like the whole gameday experience itself has went to shite with the piped in BS and is worse now than it ever was under miles.

The games used to not have the TV timeouts. Now that every game is televised and last much longer, it simply isn't possible for the band to carry the game.

That said, I think they are also trying to keep the short attention span modern audience occupied while in their seats during those timeouts. I think people would be shocked to experience what games were like back in the 70's and early 80's before the two and half minute time outs.
