Lmao the fact that yall don’t understand why they do this is hilarious. Every time the band tries to play a song, no matter what the song is, the student section starts yelling neck. LSU and the sec get fined when you can clearly hear “suck that tiger dick bitch on tv” therefore lsu drowns it out with the BS piped in music. They also do this so all the older people and kids don’t complain about hearing that chant all game long

Its not just this. The students prefer the band too. The entire stadium is more hyped when the band plays and then quiets down when the music drowns us out. It never works out when a bunch of old guys working in event staff try to predict what young people want.

That can easily be filtered out by the network.

Its terrible. And its everywhere. Saints included. I think its mainly a distraction for the 3 minute TV timeouts.

Technically the explicit language is edited out.
While I don't think the desire of the students (and other trashy people) to yell out the "neck" chant is the sole reason for the increase in music, it's certainly a consideration. Whether you agree with it or not, LSU doesn't want the chant in the stadium. Given that the student have taken it upon themselves to chant in connection with other band songs besides "neck", it further increases the piped in music. In part, the fans who love the "neck" chant are to blame for the increase in the piped in music.
On the whole, students and players like the "piped in music"...even if I don't. They haven't grown up with the tradition of the band. That is your future customers, so the business caters to them. Not unlike the most emphasize advertising demographic is late teens/early adults.
That is the nature of the entertainment business. It always changes to meet the evolving norms of society.

I honestly wouldn't mind it so much but as a NEZ resident we sit so close to the speakers that the volume is at best extremely uncomfortable and at worst a health hazard.
I used to like getting to my seats early and watching the warmups. Now I walk in at kickoff just to avoid the racket.

It’s not so much that they’re playing music over the speakers, it’s that the music they’re playing is atrocious. It doesn’t get even the students into the game more. It’s usually nothing widely known that’ll get the whole stadium singing along for at least brief moment. It’s usually a handful of dog shite EDM type songs that they repeat a thousand times a game and it adds no value to the atmosphere whatsoever.

I didn’t read all of the bullshite in this thread…but did read a few pages and didn’t see an actual answer to your question.
Piped in music is any music that is not actually played on instruments in the stadium during the game. For the most part, it refers to any music not played by either team’s band.

The problem is most of the "piped-in music" isn't really music. It's noise. What the band does is perform music.

They...meaning the fans. Players don't give a shite about the band. Unless the band plays the fight song which is only played a couple times per game. They want the piped in music to get pumped up. And the program will continue it. It will get the student section going, and the players going.
